Well I've gigged with the Monza a number of times now without any hiccups. Last night during the second set she started acting all sick on me and started crackling something fierce. Never heard anything like it. Starts off like a cell phone interfering and then into crackle hell. The only way to stop it is to turn off the amp. Bizarre thing is that after I shut it off and turn back on, it plays normal for a few and then right back to crackle ville. And it's loud crackles like the earth is gonna end! Anyway, I played on it just a bit ago for a short time and then it did it again. The little clip is what she is doing. Clip is very short because it sounds like the world is blowing up! I'm thinking tubes but don't really know. On a side note here I've always heard that the Monza is a gain beast but my experience with this particular head is that it is hardly that. More like a fairly good drive, but definitely not a gain machine. Maybe the tubes are the blame for both of these issues??? Any ideas? Oh and if it matters, it seems she gets pretty hot back there; even the shoulder of the speaker cable to the cabinet gets hot. Been like that since I got the amp.
I'm super bummed about this because I've done countless gigs with the Maz and never had issues, and certainly no need to use a back up. In fact I never bring a back up because of how reliable the Z has been. Good thing the sound guy had a back up Tweaker head he let me use. Made it through the night, and the show went on, but damn I was bummed.

Sure sounds like a bad tube to me. Check out the troubleshooting section on the website and try to find the bad tube and change it.
That really isn't enough info to definitely diagnose the problem from my keyboard. But stating that you turn it off, the tubes cool down, you power back up and it's OK till it warms then the static.

Thank you for replying, Doc. I've checked out the troubleshooting section and will go through the process. I'll report back when I get it fixed. And since my curiosity has been peaked, I decided to check out the tubes to see what they are. I guess with the tubes that are in there, I'd never know how this thing is supposed to sound, based on how you load the amps. I wonder if this would contribute to less gain then I expected (but I really have no idea if that's the case). Oh and man those pins don't look very healthy! Anyway, because I want to start fresh, I've already ordered a complete set of tubes as listed on the Dr Z website.

Yep, I'm putting my money on it being a bad tube.

Thanks, Maddog. I'm hoping it's that. New set should arrive soon!

Well.......
I think the good Doc and the good Maddog were right! New tubes. So far so good. Played about an hour today and some yesterday. Made a little clip of the maiden voyage that I'll post separately.
Thanks for the help!
