I have been cranking my amps lately and loving it!! Put the cure through some paces and it is glorious!! Im using a cannabis rex. Funny thing i had it cranked vol, master maxed. Level around 1-2 o'clock. Tearing it up. And i thought gee i wish i could have this sound but quiter ... then i re realized i had the level control!!! Bing bang boom- twist and done! What an amp!!! I did crank the mids off and it does sound blackfaceish! Thanks Z. Patent that level control!

I put a C-Rex in mine too. Love the tone and added headroom. Agree on the patent!

Whats the main difference between the C-Rex and the Z speaker? I think they are voiced very similarly....in fact I can't tell much if any tonal difference live. The C is almost 3db more efficient though. It translates to lower settings of Level and more headroom. The last 2 gigs I've had Level set at noon. With the Z speaker, it was more like 3 o'clock or greater.

I used the Cure In a revival last week one night and was right in front of the Hammond B3 speaker so It was pretty loud. I had the Cure cranked and was pretty much underneath everything but could still hear myself. The Organ players play way too loud!

Not sure if that extra efficiency woulda got you above that B3, but from what I understand, a 3db increase equals nearly doubling the wattage of the amp (not doubling the volume though). I bet the Cure cranked wide open sounds GREAT.

Its does sound great but still I find myself needing just a little more volume. I guess clean headroom. Because at that cranked level its pretty crunchy. Its great for lead tone.

I love the Z-speaker in my Cure, but I run two at gigs (clean/dirty). Would a Cannabis Rex in the clean amp give that little extra Headroom I need for the mid-sized venues?? I prefer not to mic the amp, we generally play smaller venues where volume is fine with the Z-speaker, but one place we played required a little more clean headroom. Decisions...decisions..lol! BTW, honeymoon with the Cure is still going, absolutely love that amp!!

What I can say definitively is that I went from running the Level at 3 o'clock to running it at noon....everything else the same. I bet those 2 Cure's sound great. No ground loop issues?

Thanks, I'll probably stick with the stock speaker. Always keep a pair of Sm57's in my bag for bigger venues. The two Cures sound incredible live. No ground loop issues! Cheers!
