After taking a break from the music scene for a while, I'm getting back into the saddle so to speak. My past amp was a Maz 38 NR. Great amp, but just too powerful for my needs these days. I love the Ghia sound and I am on the lookout to add that to my arsenal. In searching the used market it looks like I can pick something up for around $500 less than a brand new unit. In your opinion, any reservation on buying something used not knowing what the amp has been exposed to and how it was kept or just bite the bullet and get a new one with the fresh "new car" smell...? $500 isn't going to make or break me, so the money is really not the deciding factor. But, saving a buck is saving a buck...
Thanks!

I always wonder about mods and such when I buy used. But I know the Z service guys can take care of anything to get the amp right if needed. Saving money is good. Just use caution and find a trust worthy seller and you should be good.

I buy used and just ask if any mods have been done. People seem real honest here on this ztalk! All the z amps i have came as original and were great! Also like mint condition! I have a ghia combo i may sell but was looking for trades. Its in great condition. Only problem is i keep wanting to keep it around!

As a fellow newbie here, welcome. I've found the members on this board to be very knowledgeable and helpful. I buy dll my gear used because l don't like the idea of having 40% of the value of an item go poof between when l walk out of the store and put it in the car. I realize this may be less so with Dr. Z products but there is still some instant depreciation. I did read one thing here that might make me reconsider a new CG if l was in the market. Apparently, the new ones are lighter due to cabinet design. That is a big deal for me in any amp. Either way though, you'll end up with a great amp if you choose a CG.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the help. Those lighter cab models do look interesting. I'm think I'm going to settle on a 1-12 combo unless a super smoking deal comes along on a 2-10.

all my Z amps are used except for one. When I buy used, I always buy from this forum here, because I trust everybody here and its a smaller community. I prefer to keep everything in the "Family" here

There are many good deals to be had here. And the Ghia is a great amp for many things. Various speaker options can give you what you're after.
Welcome to the forum!
