Getting an Analogman Sun Lion. I am going for the NOS low gain germanium tranistor version....so it will clean up better. Anyone here use one? Opinions and tips would be greatly appreciated. I mainly use humbuckers and P90s through British flavored amps. Paul G.

I don't, but...
I just have to say, I snagged a Sunbender a few weeks ago. It is, by far, the best fuzz pedal I have ever owned. I really could never bring myself to dropping close to 3 bills on a fuzz, but Mike's pedals are legit and I'm so glad I did. I expect the Sunlion will be equally as awesome and you'll fall in love with it.

I don't but would love to try one out. I think you made the right move on the low gain transistors the clean up will be excellent.

I have an Analogman Sunface Fuzz (germanium) and a Beano boost. Which I think is pretty much what the Sun Lion is (in one pedal). They sound awesome together. I run the fuzz before the Beano. I use Gibson '57 Classic pups mostly. It will definitely scream running them both at the same time. The Beano before an overdrive pedal or into an overdriven amp is awesome too. I find it's a great cut-thru sound for solos.
I bought my Fuzz Face before the Sun Lion was released. If it was available at the time, I would've likely bought the Sun Lion instead of the two pedals.

I've owned two Sunlions with low-gain NKT-275 transistors. Loved them both but sold them when there were going for stupid money (buy low, sell high!). I'm down to a Sunface / Beano Boost combo now (both low-gain NKT-275) in, as was pointed out above, a "poor-man's" Sunlion. I don't use them much but when the tune calls for "that" sound there's nothing better from my arsenal!
Enjoy!

Got it at lunch time today. Best fuzz I have heard period. Barely tweaked the knobs and just love how well it cleans up and how good it sounds in general. It really comes alive, fuzz wise, around 8 or 9 on my LP. Below that level it cleans up beautifully. The pic shows where the knobs wound up.

It is the best fuzz I've ever played and I'd love to hear a Sunface too. I have a Beano Boost that is also amazing. Couldn't imagine the Sunlion sounding anything but amazing! Congrats on the new pedal.

Congrats on the SunLion!!
I had one of the first ones about 10 years ago. Really shined and cut in a live situation when the Beano side was stomped. Still have an old Beano Boost.
Glad Mike started making the SunLion again......and glad you got one. Enjoy!~

I run my Beano before my drive pedals as well. I felt it could get a little harsh at times when run after certain pedals but it never had a problem into a pedal. And it still retains the ability to cut through the mix without being too harsh. Running the Beano into an OCD with a Les Paul is out of this world, IMHO! And, the Beano cleans up really well with the OCD when you roll the volume back. My favorite combination. Although, I've also been on a kick with my Sunbender lately too...

I'm half a Sun Lion user, since I'm a Sunface user! ;-) But I've tried the matching of a Sunface into a Beano before. It was too much for me. Actually, it was too much for my neighbors, but then my neighbors were too many for me.
I've had a Sunface NKT red dots before, but I seem to prefer the less gainer (and less expensive for once) SB something, with low gain option (regular germanium transistors, but selected for their low gain if I understood correctly).
And after two Beanos and two 65 amps Color boosts, I finally stated that treble boosters were not my cup of tea...

Just got mine today. Wow what a awesome pedal! The fuzz tone is perfect and it also stacks well with other pedals. Im running it before my rockbox boiling point and then I have a archer icon after the boiling point. Wow what a tone when you engage them all. The fuzz with the treble boost into the rockbox and then the boost from the archer at the end is sustain for days. The sunlion is such a great pedal. It sounds warm and it cleans up beautiful. Im glad I took a chance on this one thanks guys. Excellent!
