Can someome explain what exactly does the presence knob do. What frequencies does it affect or accentuate or what part of the preamp it affects and how does it interacts with the amplifier and gain.
Dr. Z told me that "It adjusts the negative feedback" and im clueless. What is the negative feedback?

Well first Negative Feedback is a portion of the output signal returned to phase inverter circuit to CORRECT and limit distortion in the output signal. It is an out of phase , or Negative signal , that limits distortion and makes the output cleaner , or more what the input signal looks like. The Presence control works with this returned signal, and clears up the upper frequencies by the use of a High Pass filter, Presence Pot/Cap. What does it do , well it makes your amp sound closer to you ( Presence ) without being louder. By clearing up the Upper frequency , the amp cuts better, has more bite, and more Presence in the mix.
