There is so much talk about the level knob but to me the midrange knob is the magic tone tool of this amp. The eq is so good that I have yet to find a guitar that it did not work with. I've thrown a Tele, Rickenbacker 330, Strat, ES-175, Les Paul and SG at it and have not had any dead spots or resistance. In fact my SG just absolutely kills with this amp. I cant get over it because I have always struggled with Gibsons and my Fender amps to the point that I kept an el84 amp dedicated to them. It's way more flexable than any fender circuit and the mid knob is the most powerful tool on the amp for determining the character of the amp. That being said, I never feel like I am losing the character of the individual guitar regardless of amp settings.
The versatility of this knob is summed up in this: Mids down = blackface sparkle & mids up = tweed

I'd agree in general, although I do think the level control is genius.

Pete, I just got my Cure and I will second the SG kills! Especially with P90s. Tonight I will try other guitars. Like other Z's the mid does do a bunch but not as night and day as the Therapy. If you put a Zlux, Z28, and Therapy in a bag and shook it up you get the Cure.

Yea Pete it's useless to resist it any longer. 😏 The cure is like a z-lux/ therapy Blackface and tweed in a studio combo Lightweight yet packs a mean punch! And can also sound great at bedroom levels.

A dual P90 guitar sounds great through the Cure ... and the Z-Lux too. You're doomed, Pete. If you find yourself in NY, you know you are always welcome at my place to sample Zs, including some discontinued models (Galaxie, 6545, RxES, JAZ 20/40).
