Hi! I just got home with a new Maz 18Jr from my friends at Parkway. I have a new Gretsch Setzer and wanted something smaller than my main rigs to match that guitar. I think it will. Anyway, I'm super new to it, but what's the general opinion on how it takes pedals? Has anyone tried a Fulldrive 2 with it? How about a pedal compressor? Anything particularly a good match with the Maz?

Hello and welcome here... I think the MAZ's (Juniors and Seniors) take pedals very well.....specifically the FD2 and a FullTone 69' Fuzz. I actually think the 69' sounds better than most over-drive pedals, cause you DON"T have to max out the controls for extreme Fuzz. If you use a moderate setting, you get a very smooth Fuzz/OD sound which offers a bit more sustain. One thing worth noting is....make sure you don't run your Volume (Pre-Amp Gain) knob more than about 2 O'clock cause you may mush out a bit more than desired. With all that said....I think one of the strongest attributes of the MAZ Junior is that if you MAX out your Volume knob....it sounds better than most OD pedals anyway.

That sounds great! I have a 69 that I don't like in my main rig. So I'll resurrect it from the shelf and see how it behaves. And I have a FD anniversary edition on the way, so it will be a great way to change it. I have a Klon in my main board, which alwas is great IMHO, but I don't want to order another one for my smaller rig. As for running the volume up that much, I really want a full clean sound first from this amp. It seems to be just what I wanted at a reasonable size/volume, so I'm looking to get the medium distortion and lead distortion/overdrive from pedals.
