Hi
My Maz 38 SR NR recently died at a rehearsal. It worked fine for a few minutes then just stopped creating any sound. No pop/bang or anything just silence. The power light is still on. I got it home and tried with different cables and different cab, still no sound. Any ideas before I take it to service shop? I bought it second hand about 8 years ago and have never done any tubes on it as it seemed to be working all fine.
Thanks

Replace the rectifier , and check your fuses.

Here's the link to the Dr. Z Troubleshooting page (Though Frank is probably correct in his diagnosis). BTW - you may be amazed how good it sounds with new tubes in it!

Yours has 2 fuses I assume (don't know if they all do or just certain versions)? When it happened to me the 1/2 amp fuse had gone. Amp will still power on but won't make any noise. Either way, like everyone else said, it is probably time to start thinking about a retubing.

My Maz 8 just did that and it was the rectifier tube.

I took the advice of some folks on this board and replaced the stock Sino 5AR4 that came with my MAZ 8 with a NOS (mislabeled) 5AR4 from KCA Tubes. Link
It seemed to open up the amp quite a bit... made it sound bigger and brighter. KCA guarantees his rectifier tubes for 6 months. $96 bucks is kinda pricey, but it should last for several years.
