Listened to The Final Cut today. That entire album was about Roger Waters exoricizng his demons and his ghosts and his past and trying to deal with his father's death in the war. It's my opinion that he should have written a book instead for anyone interested in his life instead of dragging the rest of the band through such a bad outing. I'm glad I borrowed the CD from the library and didn't buy it.

Oh man, it's funny as I really love The Final Cut. Some good tracks and an interesting story in there.

When it came out, I had the same opinion as Don, but as time has gone by, I like the material of TFC more and more, though it would still be hard to get through the album. I really like bits sprinkled among the other songs when Waters plays live.

Too much over-the-top Waters...not enough 'band'. Too much orchestra....not enough 'band'. Wright had been fired from Floyd and was only a side man for the recording (or maybe nothing at all). And yes, instead of expressing an idea or a point of view....it was too autobiographical.
Still, I like it. But parts of it seem like leftover stuff from The Wall.

I'm a real oddball, "the final cut" has always been my favorite Pink floyd album. 2 of my close friends also like it the best. must be something in the water here in cleveland!
