I'll be picking up a Sr NR head in a couple hours! It's in mint condition, is a newer model with the tone cut, and is retubed with a NOS Mullard rectifier and mil spec NOS 84's. I've started gigging again with a country band, and while a Jr or 12 would work there since we mic, I'm also working with an original group (my own music), and this group doesn't have a pa system so I may need extra volume and headroom, so I'm thinking a 38 with a BL is a good way to cover as many basses as possible. Kicker...it's red ;-)

Let me know if you need a Dr Z air brake ( the bigger one ) - I have one I haven't touched in 5 years. That Maz SR is loud. It will be along the lines of a 100 watt head from other brands. You are going to have to tame it a bit for smaller venues.
It is a great amp though, congrats!

Frankie is so smooth....MAZ 38 will be a great amp. BW sounds pretty good with one too.

Thanks, Fred. I have one lined up locally, but if it falls through I'll definitely get in touch.
That clip sounds sweet. I have been listening to a lot of Buddy's stuff, as well as the Paisley stuff with a 38 - great tones.

My first Z was a blonde Maz18nr head I traded a tele for with a friend and fellow member here. For a reason I can't recall, I ended up selling it to a member of the guitarscanada forum. A year or two later, another friend and fellow band member traded a jcm 800 head for the blonde Jr head. Small world, the Maz38 head I bought today - same guy I sold the Jr to.
As this was a major "small world" moment, I figured the only decent thing to do was to stop at my friend's place to a/b them through his Port City 212 cab. We tried with with the board and without, running it with a tele, 339, firebird, and Eastman 12 string hb. It sounded amazing with all - bass was huge compared to the Jr. It is...shock...LOUD! That said, I love the tones...especially with the guitar straight in...no pedals. The tone stack cut - amazing with the Tele and 339. Looking forward to practice tomorrow night.

I've been gigging with my Maz 38 reverb head for probably 7 or 8 years now, and usually with an Airbrake. I can do large or small venues with this setup, it's very versatile, sounds great and takes pedals really well. I also installed a Mullard NOS rectifier several years ago for peace of mind. I love that amp!

2 gigs in, I have to say I'm loving it. It slices through the mix without being aggravating, and the tone is sweet. I think it's a keeper.

Have you been using the brake lite with it?

Haven't gotten one yet, but I seem to be getting by fine without it, although both gigs were outdoors, so that may explain some of it ;-)

Added a new cab today - the small closed-back 112 I'd borrowed needed to be returned, and it was holding the head back anyway.
Went to a shop that carries V Boutique. Among the models in stock, thw V Deluxe was the winner. 112, oversized, huge tone. That shop carries WGS - I went through all of them and settled on the ET65 in that cab. Great combo.
