Anyone try one in their Z-Lux? I've got one laying around so I may give it a shot.

Doesn't hurt to try it. This month's Guitarist magazine included a shoot out of Celestion 12" speakers, and the A model was the reviewer's favourite, and that was over the Gold and the Creamback in a Deluxe Reverb, so it could work.

I have an A type in my Zwreck and it's a really well balanced speaker. I think it would be a good fit in a Zlux.

Steve Carr uses the A-type in his Skylark amp. I don't mean to be trumpeting other brands around here, but Carr amps ain't no slouch--and he's got one or two of his own "custom" Eminence speakers too. So, if he's using one, it can't be too shabby...

So, if he's using one, it can't be too shabby... I have a Carr Skylark. When I first got it I wasn't all that impressed with the a-type when comparing it to the ev12l ext. cab. It has a looser bottom end and compresses more easily. More colored sound in general. How much of this is attributed to the Skylark cab? No idea. Went to put a swamp thang in, won't fit. So I left it alone and it has grown on me. Love the amp with the a-type. Mounted a braklite on the back and the Skylark is a blues machine at any volume level. Maybe I will try the Therapy or Ezg through the Skylark cab and report back.

I am using the A-Type in my 1X12 cab with a Z-Lux Head. Sounds better than any other speaker I have tried with it (Jensen Jet Lightning, Jupiter 50W Ceramic, Jupiter 50 Watt Alnico, G12H30, WGS Veteran 30, Celestion Gold). The A-Type is Celestion's take on an "american" sound, but it has some of that Celestion magic tossed in there. Very good speaker with this amp.
