I know the Z lux will be more versatile than the EZG but for clean tones at the above settings can the Z lux match the EZG?
does anyone own or had own both to do an overall comparison?
Its got me thinking as you can order the EZG in the lightweight cabinet the Z lux is housed in! The weight of the EZG was a bit off putting for me.
I'll be interested to hear your views in a live band setting mainly but for home use too.

Which is the master on the EZG? I believe the op is talking about the master on the Z-lux being cranked to match the clean tone of the EZG. I don't see a mention of EZG master anywhere. I have never played the Z-lux, but I am enjoying the EZG so much I don't have much desire to right now.

I own an EZG and have owned a JAZ and played a Z lux.
With EZG, its a really big, open clean tone. The z lux is more focused, tight, and smooth.
Eq wise, the EZG is fatter.
However, I think a lot of people try to liken the EZG as a super and the lux as a deluxe reverb. Thing is, with those old fenders, they do sound pretty similar enough to where you could make a lot of comparisons.
IMHO, the Z lux and EZG are very, very different sounding amps. Which is to say that I don't think its accurate to think of an EZG as a higher powered z lux and vice versa, whereas from my personal experience it seems as if Pro reverbs and supers do sound a little bit like high powered deluxes etc.
The EZG and Z lux are both definite fender approximations, but with very unique flavors proprietary to both of them. The Z lux is more of a glassy type clean, think Eric Johnson type bouncy clean tones. The EZG is more along the lines of SRV, Johnny Winter, Hendrix, and Jerry Garcia.
Both have their advantages.
I'm hoping to pick up a Z lux soon myself.
