I've been interested in the Z-Lux for quite some time. I've read most of the threads on it, but I would like for you all who have both the Z-Lux and Maz Jr to try to explain the gain differences between the two amps. I've read that the Lux doesn't have as much gain as the Jr. So, how much less? Thanks all.

The Z-Lux seems less "gainy" to my ears, but I've not done a proper comparison. I think to answer more precisely, we'd have to bypass eq in both amps and set Vol to max, all done to make sure there's no last "drop of gain" lurking in the stages before the power amp. Ideally, you'd want to run both amps into the same speaker via a Headbone or similar. Sounds like a good project for the Mini Z Fest gang in August!
I'll go out on a limb here and speculate that the Hi input on the MAZ helps it get a little more of the gain thing going.

Just a casual observation, based on memory and not on any kind of testing, but if there's a difference it's not huge and probably immaterial for most users--you have to crank both of them pretty hot to get them to break up much. The Lux has more input headroom and doesn't get fizzy when driven, which the Maz Jr can at times.
