I was wondering about the 25'th Anniversary Ghia and the master volume.
I noticed that if you lower the master volume on the Ghia that the sound gets kind of compressed and fuzzy. The regular volume knob I have at 12:00. The master doesn't seem to work like say, the new master volume on the Remedy. The tube break up isn't as smooth as the Remedy.
Ideally, I would like to get some tube break up at a lower volume while keeping the distortion tight and musical.
Don't get me wrong, I love my 25'th Ghia but I find myself just maxing the master and using it like a regular Ghia. I had another 25'th Anniversary Ghia before and had a similiar experience. I also swapped tubes and that didn't make a difference.
Does anyone have the same experience? What settings do you like on your 25'th Anniversary Ghia?

Out of the Z's I have owned with a master I would rank them starting with best in the following order.
Therapy Remedy Anni. Ghia
It just works better on some platforms. I do not get a the same "fizzy" sound out of my Anni. the way I got it out of the remedy when the volume is pushed and the master is choking. I do know what you are saying, it is not the best but it is good. Having the option to take it out of the circuit is very nice.
Settings depends on guitar and who's in the house at the time;) Tone usually sits between 11-3 and the master depends if I am using pedals for drive or not. These days I usually have the master about 11-1 just to keep a good clean tone without upsetting the house.

Yup, thought the Master was OK
But wound up keeping the Master all the way up, and hitting it with pedals. Loved it as a Pedal Platform
I also put an attenuater on it. liked the Distortion better with an Attenuater but not all THAT much different. The Master was handy, but when I buy another one (and I will) it will be the regular one

Same experience here. Went through tube and speaker swaps, but never found the lower volume, edge of break up sound with master down and volume up. Ended up with master maxed and pedals for dirt. Still an awesome amp, just didn't respond to those adjustments the way my ears expected.
