I can't remember where the thread was, but I recall recently where someone had mentioned getting back their Ghia that Dr. Z installed a master volume on and saying something about "getting in line" for the mod.
For those in the know, is there going to be a factory mod available for the Ghia? Will that eventually become a part of the standard production?

I think it was Todd that had the MV put on his Ghia. I haven't heard any talking about making a MV standard. If you contact the shop they can tell you if they can put a MV on a Ghia as a special request. I know on the Anniversary model there was a MV as standard.

Still on my search and I remembered that thread and thought about revisiting a Ghia, seeing as how it was one of my favorites.

The Anniversary Ghia had a MV on it. It seemed to work very well.

to me, the ghia seems sterile (lack of power tube richness to the sound) until you crank it -- with the stock 5751 v2 tube anyway. it seems like a master vol would do more to prevent that power tube mojo. that might be the reason a stock ghia doesn't have a master.

Yeah, the Ghia sounds good at any volume. It sounds good..uncranked.
I know Doc has come out with a lot of new amps over the past few years....but don't overlook the Ghia. One of his overall best.

Of the 7 Z amps I own, the Ghia gets the most playing time. Everyone who owns a Z amp should have a Ghia too. |
