During choosing what speakers to put in the amp, I remember when Dr. Z tried this in the 1x12 platform. I think the consensus was that it is a bit too smooth and warm for an already warm amp. I do think the name "cream" is indicative of the fact that it's a thick, smooth, and very middle and low mid focused speaker. To my ears, the gold is perfectly suited for the DB4, as the gold definitely "sparkles" in the high mids and brings a beautiful presence to the amp. Again, I think Celestion does this naming scheme purposely. Except for the blues of course which I think are supposed to reference the old blue Vox alnico speakers.
