Does anyone have experience with a Ghia through a 10" Eminence Legend speaker? I'm looking for a reduced sensitivity 10" Alnico option to lower the volume a bit.
Thanks!

I am currently running my Ghia thru a 10" Greenback and am very happy with it. Low SPL on the Greenbacks

Tone Tubby has some inefficient speakers. The greenback's are another choice. So is the Lil Buddy from Eminence. Or go el super cheapo and pick up a WGS Veteran 10.

Thanks the input!
I have decided to pick up a Ghia 1x10 combo with BrakeLite but now trying to finalize the speaker choice. It will be a grab n go combo for basement and garage jams with friends as well as solo practice. At home, it will be run through a Dr Z 1x12 cab I already have.
I recently demoed a used CG head with a closed back 1x12 V30. It was loud and direct! I really liked how the amp responded to the guitar volume and tone controls so directly but would like to smooth and quiet the output a bit. Not long before I tried a new Ghia through a 2x12 cab and it sounded wonderful. I'm not sure what the speakers were.
I'm hoping to find a warmer, lower volume 10" speaker to tame the beast a bit without overly attenuating. I called Dr Z and they suggested a Greenback or alnico Legend. I have read about the GB but not the Legend. Others mentioned on the forum are the Tone Tubby and C-Gold (both expensive) and the Weber Blue and Silvers. None of these are Dr Z standard options and do not want to pay extra for the loud Red Fang. The Ram Rod and Z10 seem pretty efficient also.

Well I didn't have a chance to try the alnico legend but I liked mine with two legend 10516 speakers. As well for a single I really liked the WGS G10CS, to tame the treble a bit. My experience with all Dr. Z amps is that they are all very direct sounding but what feels a bit direct or bright at home feels like perfect with the band....as you don't have work so hard to be heard. If I understand right you are ordering it new? If he offers the Alnico Legend new I'm sure it would be the quite at speaker available. The Eminence speakers are not real expensive, especially used, so maybe get the stock Z10" speaker so f you need to get more cut or volume you'll have it, and then try a WGS G10cs or Legend Alnico....man I miss my Ghia, such a great amp.

Well you can get a tone tubby Humboldt or a San Rafael for about the same as a Greenback. WGS Veteran 10 is as cheap as it gets. Eminence Ramrod is pretty close to a Z 10 (from what people have said here on the forum). If you can find a used Lil Buddy it will probably treat you pretty well.

...been playing through a ceramic Legend 1058 a lot lately...i'm really digging it...its what i would describe as a pretty low-fi speaker but a Ghia is so harmonically rich that it livens up what would be a pretty dull speaker in many amps...and its pretty darn quiet compared to most of the speakers that i often use...

I have a 2x10 pine cab with a pair of Legend 10516. I have plug my Ghia into every now and then. It has a nice warm sound, tames the highs a little, more mids, rounder bottom. Does not have the snap of my 12" alnico but still very nice sound.

Lil buddy or a WGS Vet 10 are great for taming highs and are very inefficient. If you have other items you need to order like strings or picks or something, I would say go for the WGS and try to get free shipping from Musicians Friend. Otherwise, hit up the Lil Buddy since Eminence always offers free shipping direct from their site.
