I usually use what Doc puts into them but you can play around with them a bit. I would use what doc uses as well. not quite sure which brands hes using? this amp Im buying, the seller says tubes are good and are about a year or so old, but if I wanted peace of mind and order fresh ones, which would you recoomend? and I notice on the tube store the ghia set is $112 vs at eurotubes theyre $66 why such a drastic price difference?

Jeff - I just compared the two sets of tubes - looks like the only difference is a NOS JAN GE 5751 at tube store versus JJ5751 at Eurotubes. The JAN sells for $60 at Tube Store; the JJ 5751 is $13 - that is basically your difference.

Thanks Mike. Is there a big tonal difference between the NOS and the JJ? Would it be worth it to me to buy with the NOS?

I've heard most new issue 5751s are just 12AX7s that didn't make the grade versus the NOS tubes being military grade tubes actually made to be different. As far as worth it... Depends on what you want. If you want the Ghia to distort later on the volume knob, get the 5751. Otherwise just stick with the AX7s

So my Carmen Ghia arrived last night, and I just got it hooked up this morning and tested it out for about a half hour. WOW, this sucker is loud. has great warm round tones, sounds good with my pedals, I think I will be happy with it. Glad you guys talked me into it

Since I got mine, I've pretty much decided that no matter which other Z amp you have, you still need a Ghia and can put it to good use.
As such, IMO this was a wise purchase on your part.

Glad you like it. Interesting, as I've been thinking about selling my Ghia to get a Maz Jr. (I normally gig with a Maz Sr and an Airbrake). But, every time I plug into the Ghia I think it sounds too good to part with!

I think everyone should have a Ghia, just too cool and great sounding not to have one.

The thing that I find so shocking is how fat sounding it is, keep opening up the knobs and it gets funner and funner!!

My next purchase Todd is going to be a mini z because yours always posting how much your son likes his and your great review of it. I've been gassing for the mini for a while.

It's a other really cool amp for sure, it's especially fun to play with different tubes and speakers. Really makes a difference

Glad you're diggin' the Ghia, Jeff! It's a great little amp and never fails to turn heads with it's over the top tone. About 15 years ago I plugged into my first Z, and it was a Ghia. I couldn't believe it.
