I have a CG head that I'm picking up today or Monday depending on if Fedex gets their act together today or not... Anyways, I have a 410 cab and some THD Vintage 10" speakers. I remember trying them in my Deville and not liking them very much, but I'm going to give them a try with the Ghia.
My question is, is there a particular brand or style of 10" speaker that works well with the Ghia in case the THD speakers don't work out? I would prefer some cheaper alternatives if I'm going to completely fill the cab. Looking at used Eminence and Jensen but I'm just not sure since I've heard that the Ghia can be quite picky about speaker choice.
Thanks for any guidance!

The Eminence Ramrod is what I use with my CG Anni in an open back cabinet.
The 10" Celestion Gold also sounds good to my ears.

The 10" gold is fantastic with the Ghia...but could be getting expensive if you want to fill up a 4x10.
If your volume requirements are not high, the 10" greenback is highly thought of. But it's a very inefficient speaker, and overall volume will be reduced. And they're cheap.
I don't have much experience with Eminence speakers, but several of their 10" offerings have been mentioned on in the forum. Maybe somebody else can post about them.

Again, the Celestion G10 Gold is great, but it's kinda loud and a little expensive. Also excellent is the Celestion G10 Greenback--it's a little less "chimey" but has a great rock 'n' roll midrange and is relatively inefficient (not as loud, which is often a good thing).
As for Eminence, some people like the Red Fang 10 for its chime & attitude, but it's also VERY loud. The Ramrod is OK, too, but I think it's better-suited for higher-gain stuff like the Monza.
My recommendation? All-around great and not too loud: 10" Greenback; premium sound on the louder side: 10" Gold.

Thanks for the replies so far. I am a little partial to Eminence being a Kentucky boy... But I've definitely been interested in the Greenbacks. Just wish they popped up used more often, but I guess that shows how good they are.

I think the Ghia gets along with most speakers. If you are partial to Eminence, the Ramrod should sound just fine.

In your situation, I wouldn't overlook offerings from WGS. (also from Kentucky)
...and cheaper!!
They make a 10" greenback clone.

I like the 10" in the Z-cab. They have played well with most everything I've thrown at them. I don't know if you can buy them from Z-Hdqtrs.

I use a Red Fang. It sounds good to me and gives the Ghia a kick in the headroom department (I need a clean sound to cover some of our material). I bought a Gold and really liked it's tone, but it took away some headroom IMO. I haven't tried any others with the Ghia.

I run a Weber blue pup/silver ten combo in my 2x10. I like it a lot. No other experience, though.

I've got an Eminence Lil Buddy coming in... Hoping to get a few other odds and ends to see how things mesh.
