Love the sound of the DB4... then I also really enjoyed the Z-wreck as well!

This could be the perfect amp for me. It's impossible to know for sure from the youtube videos, but I get the feeling the even though the Z-Wreck sounds amazing the DB4 might have a better basic tone for my ears: I love thick, gainy tones! I don't have a gig right now so I don't really have to worry about it. Yet . . . .
Congrats on another fantastic amp, Doc!

I want one, and I cannot say why. Maybe that tone?

I'm in vacation in Jaipur, India for a while, and I can't get a decent connection around here. Impossible for me to watch this demo... so all your comments are killing me! Looking forward watching it when I come home in 10 days. Until then, no guitars, no gear demos... But I've found a few things to enjoy here in the real life!

As always--great demo by Dave Baker--really impressive. What a wonderful sounding amp--another home run for the doc.

Crikey, I just gave in to the Z-Lux gas - and now this? You're killin' me over here Doc, you're killing me. Cue music: I got a DB4 Jones, I got a DB4 Jones, I got a DB4 Jones oh baby ooh-ooh-ooooh...

Yeah... I know where I stand on the whole "tonewood" debate when I play my two PRSi with the same pickups, one mahogany/maple + rosewood fingerboard, one swamp ash + maple neck and fingerboard, through my MAZ. If only the electronic parts and tuners and bridges mattered, they should sound a *lot* closer. I've been preaching the tonewood gospel for a long time. It even translates to speaker cabinets. That's something that doesn't come across in video demos where you are mostly hearing just the speaker. I like solid pine cabs. I think I would probably like the sound of the new lightweight cabs also since they should resonate more than standard cabs. My Ampeg Gemini 1 cab uses 1/2" plywood and I love the way it interacts with the speaker.

I'm impressed. And correct me if I'm wrong Doc, but I seem to remember you schooling me on the benefits of the 5879 tube when you serviced my Les Paul amp years ago. So I gather the pot has been brewing till the right moment. I'll bet that amp would.be a slide players dream. Congratulations.
