Happy day indeed, Blackice! Zimmer, I'll let you know my thoughts when I can get away from it for few minutes. I just sold my RxES to pay for this. The RxES was real close to the Stangray and I'm looking for some other sounds. Love the Ray though! And I'll probably miss the Rx. Very excited to find out first hand what the Gal is all about!

Jones'n for Tone, Anxious to hear what your take is on your LES PAUL through the GALAXIE!! I have an ES-335 that I love that unfortunately might get traded after the 1st of the year to make way for my "LEFTY LP-STANDARD GOLD TOP" that I am snagging! Truly fortunate to secure it as GIBSON stopped regular production of LEFTY MODELS early this year! ONLY CUSTOM SHOP can provide us LEFTY'S with GIBSON from now on! Their is an excellent chance that I won't have to use my VINTAGE SUNBURST 335 to facilitate getting the LP-GOLDTOP! ;D [glow=red,2,300]TELE'S SMOKE THROUGH THE GALAXIE BUT MAN DO THEM STRATS SOUND AMAZING THROUGH THE GALAXIE!!GOOD GRACIOUS[/glow]!!

Oh my! This thing has some gain. I love the sound of the overdrive on this amp. You have so much control with the guitar volume. I can go from clean w/just a touch of hair at about 2 on the guitar vol all the way to full on drive at 10 on the guitar with little change in overall volume (using airbrake and channel 2). And in between there are so many subtle variations. Channel 1 has a really nice clean that can get a little dirty too when pushed hard and the vol up. So far I haven't gotten too far away from the Tele (it just sounds so good). But with the limited time I've spent with the Strat and the LP, I loved it with those guitars too. I'm sure that some of this is the "new toy syndrome", but I don't think all of it. I believe this amp may be underappreciated by some of the Z family at large. When the Line 6 Vetta first came out, I had one of those and really learned a lot from that amp. It could sound pretty close to just about anything. I didn't like the way the digital distortion sounded after playing for a while. Sort of gave me a headache. But none the less I learned a lot. The main thing I learned is how much better two amps sounded together than just one (even though they were simulated in the line 6). So with all that said, I absolutely love the Galaxie and Stangray together. "I don't want to work...... I just want to bang on guitar all day". ;D The smooth rich sound of the Ray coupled with the gritty overdrive of the Gal is absolute heaven to my ears! ;D ;D ;D And between the two I can get a shload of sounds. I used to run my Rxes with the Ray and that too sounded fabulous. The overdirve on the Rxes just wasn't as gritty. The ray/rxes combo was still firmly in the Vox camp. The ray/gal combo opens up a lot more tonal variety. No buyers remorse hear with the Gal. Gibby, to answer your question about my take on the Gal w/LP... Haven't spent a lot of time with it, but I certainly like the LP thru the Gal more than the LP thru the Ray. With the humbuckers on the LP there is more gain on tap with the Gal than I will probably ever use. But somewhere there in the middle is a wonderful LP sound that really inspires me to play. I've got to get back to playing now...... ;D

Jones'n for tone,
Glad you're digging you gal. When you get a break from playing, can you tell me which speaker cab of your's do you like the most with it?

Jones'n for tone, Glad you're digging you gal. When you get a break from playing, can you tell me which speaker cab of your's do you like the most with it? Unfortunately my cab with the blues is 4ohm and the Gal only has an 8ohm jack so I haven't tried the blues. I've only used the cab with the Vintage 30 and the G12H30. I think the ceramic speakers are probably better suited for the Gal anyway. What I really want to try (but I have to spend more dough to do it) is one alnico and one ceramic speaker with the Gal.

I only got to crank it for a few last night, but I loved it! My zbest seems a bit stiff, but I guess I have to break it in some not really sure. But wow, I can't wait to get to play a show with it!

I like the idea that the Galaxie may be under-appreciated. I've been playing it with telecaster in pentode on the first channel for a blissful smooothness a lot in this last week. The speaker is a bit too dark in my 1x12, so I've fiddled with the controls as compared to the Z-Best.
I've ordered a 1265 from Weber, and I'm interested to hear how that goes.
The Z-Best is very efficient with the stock speakers, and responsive as all get out. It sounds huge, however. Airbrake, maybe? I've moved the SRZ to the Z-Best for a while, which doesn't stink. The Galaxie got bumped to the 1x12, and then I found myself still playing the Galaxie.
