Hi guys, Just to let know the ones who bought their Z-Lux before the new footswitch was available (the one with the pot) that it worth it. So much. My footswitch is the one I got with my Maz 8 and modified a few years back. I hadn't tried it with the Z-Lux until today, cause I found it rather soft and usable stock (I have an "old" one of 2015 ). But I finally I did and I found it amazing. I can't tell any difference between it at max and the regular footswitch, but now I can have any flavor between no boost and full boost. Around 1/2 to 2/3, you have less prominent medium and a little less boost so it sounds even more natural and juicy. Had a really great time with my Tele straight into the amp.

I agree, the variable footswitch is a must have for me. It is just too much without the ability to back it down a bit. Great addition.

If someone has one yet, I'm curious about the value the Doc chose for the pot...

Fwiw, I think think the Zlux boost is just about perfect for a solo boost. I can see needing a volume pot for some of the others though. BUT, I have been playing around w the brakelite and I think I've finally made peace with it. On my maz jr cranked up and the brakelite on 2-3 clicks, the boost works pretty well too. I don't think I'm gonna need a new foot switch.

Rolling your guitar volume back: It's not just for playing rhythm. I do it pretty often when using the bypass on the MAZ series. Not as much on the Z-Lux.

I don't think I'm gonna need a new foot switch. For me, the pot is absolutely needed on the Maz 8 switch. Couldn't do without anymore, cause for my use the boost alone is both too much volume and too much equalization. For the Z-Lux, I agree, the pot is needed less. But I still prefer with rather than without, because I can't tell the difference when the pot is maxed (so I don't loose anything), and I really love what I get with it around 2/3: a little less gain and a little less mids or thickness if you will.

On my MAZ Jr I roll the guitar volume back to about 7 and kick in the boost with the pot about half-way and it is a nice clean and full sounding lead tone, right on the edge of breakup. Oh, and when I modded my switch I used a 250K Audio pot and it seems to work just fine.

I got the new foot switch last week. (Actually bought two, one for home, one for gig bag.) Perfect!

I got two: one for the Z-Lux and one for the Maz 18. (I put a cream colored knob on the one for the Maz.)
