I'm sorry if this has been answered, but this is a deciding factor for me. I have no amp techs near me, and I like the possibility of pulling/switching tubes without going in for a bias. Thanks in advance...

Cathode....and no tube pulling allowed....or required. Half power switch included.. But it is OK to re-tube when the 6v6s get stale. Just pop in a new matched quad.

I was referring to pulling two power tubes for half power. Maybe I miss understood the OP.. I shouldn't have used the word "pull." I meant switching tubes without having to rebias.

I have several matched pairs of nos 6v6 but no matched quads. I'm curious also if I can leave it in 20 watt mode and use only 2 tubes. I'm not sure if that's how the half power switch works

Doc's half-power switch does not simply remove two tubes from the circuit. Does that mean that if you only use the amp in 20 watt mode you should still replace all 4 tubes or can I just replace the two used in 20 watt mode?

Is there any danger in using unmatched tubes? For instance, let's say I've got matched quad and one goes bad right before a gig and all I have is a single spare backup tube. Are there any consequences for throwing that tube in with the others?
