I have an older Ghia 1x12 combo that has an odd buzzing or ghost note. I have swapped with a complete set of new JJ tubes but still no joy. I will take it to my tech soon but wondering if anyone has heard this before? Thanks! Sample MP3 here > link

That sounds like a pre-amp tube.

Thanks John.
I agree - it sounds like a microphonic preamp tube or maybe the shield vibrating at a sympathetic frequency. I have tried several different tubes and no change. Will keep moving things around but let me know if anyone else has any ideas.
Thanks!

Be sure and try another guitar to make sure the pickups aren't picking up something vibrating on the guitar. Pickup mounting springs, bridge springs even the part of the string beyond the neck can vibrate.

Thanks guys. Turned out to be 3 bad/microphonic JJ preamp tubes. They all worked fine in various other amps but I guess the Ghia combo vibrates enough to get them oscillating or whatever. Popped a Mullard in there and all good!
