Hey guys. While I wait for the Stang Ray I recently ordered, I started thinking about adding the airbrake to my setup. My dealer just got some in, but I haven't had the chance to go try one out yet. I was thinking I would probably use it mostly at home when I play through the new StangRay to help control the volume a bit. My question is how does the airbrake like the Stang Ray? I've heard the brake is a great unit, but I've never had the chance to play one before. How much drive can I get from the Ray when using the airbrake? In reality, I probably won't get to crank the Ray to full volume very often, so I thought the airbrake might help me get there a little more often. I don't want over the top gain, but rather a nice clean spank with some hair on the notes for some modern country type stuff. Anything needing more drive than that I have pedals for. Just curious what you think.

Just curious what you think. I've used an Airbrake with my Stingray since day one. Virtually every clip I've done with the Stingray was done with the Airbrake. It works great with the Stingray - most of my clips are done with it at four clicks down (just before you switch to bedroom level). My Stingray starts to give up the crunch at about 6 on the dial. At about 7 or 7 1/2 it hits the wall, where the power amp starts to compress. I'm telling you, at 6 on the dial, through the C-Blues, that thing is really LOUD! I need the Airbrake on gigs or they would throw me off the stage! Seriously! It's louder than my 50 Watt THD Flexi-50! So I totally endorse the Airbrake with the Stingray - it's been working GREAT here. You can hear all of those sound clips (and see the setup info) at www.gear.strayca.com/stingray.htm. Hope it helps...

Thanks. Hope that gave you some idea - the Airbrake was in every one of those clips. If not, my wife would have shot me by now...

I feel no need for it with my Maz 38 either, the master is so good. If you need it with the Maz 38 you may be a gainaholic! It does work great with the Stang Ray.

Now that Ray'ette is home I have some studying to do and I thought I would start by re-listening to all your clips while observing your settings. Thanks!!
