Maddog,
I am not sure where you were going with Nickelback??
To me they were kind of in the same category as Creed. They have some interesting stuff. Not sure what they are doing now. The lead singer is getting a divorce from Avril Lavene.
This video surprised me of how tight these guys sounded, maybe that surprised you as well.
Maybe they can get together with the guys Creed and create a new band called KrickleKrack

Early days, interesting sounds.......very quickly became smooth stadium rock........and I fell asleep.........zzzzzzzz
I'm sure they're very professional, tight outfit, but I like a little more grit in my oyster..............

I'm not really familiar with their own stuff, but I thought their version of SDM was very nicely done. One question and I may show my ignorance, But was I detecting a way as the singer strutted his solo on the runway. If so, How did he do that?

The Wah was most likely being played by a dutiful guitar tech...I don't know how one gets yo the point where others work their pedals but that is exactly what the big boys and girls do. Krickle Krack

That was awesome!!
Now on the wah. Ive seen techs switch pedals for the big boys but a wah? How could someone else control your wah? That would mess me up big time.

Not a fan. That scratchy vocal on every single note grates on me like fingernails on a chalkboard. Every recording I've ever heard of the band came across to my ears as being extremely compressed and overly processed. Sad to see them covering that little 'ol band from Texas.

I saw a thing about Joe Perry's guitar tech and how he will just pick the effects that he THINKS Joe might be wanting during some solos. If Joe gives him a stink eye then he knows he picked wrong they talk about his pedals around 12:35 and about switching them and stuff around 17:00

While we are on the topic of takes on SDM by various artists....how 'bout this one ? Always love Brad's sense of humour in his music, even if I'm not a fan of country music per se...........but this is all kinds of wrong, to my ears........... however, the man's having fun doing it, so twang on Brad! I've said enough about Nickelback Karaoke so how about this version?

Any Nickelback thread will be polarizing but that doesn't take away from the fact that their version of SDM is pretty good. Pretty good in general and pretty good for them!

I liked Eliminator/Afterburner when they came out,but it's played way too much on classic rock radio.I'd like to hear bedroom thang,or beer drinkers instead.

Indeed! Love that tone and sound.
I had read or heard on an interview with Billy G that Jimi had taken them under his wing. I haven't been able to find any other info on it primarily because I haven't thought about until now.
I can guess that they went over to Europe with him and opened the show sometime around 69.
Any clarifications on that?

Any clarifications on that? There's probably some truth to that as I'm pretty sure Jimi gave Billy one of his pink Strats because it wouldn't burn while trying to set it on fire mid-set........
