My Ghia head came in the mail today. This thing is a beast. My avatar cab is still in the mail but I borrowed my buddies Jackson 1x12 cab loaded with a C Gold. It sounded great but a little boxy. I think its because the cab is a ported closed back. To me it sounded like a fender and a marshall had a baby. Also it looks like the original tubes from 2007 may be in there so I think I am going to do a tube swap. Any recommendation on some good tubes?  |

I've heard it said that the Ghia is 2/3 Marshal and 1/3 Vox...that is sweet Strat too! What speaker is in the cab you are waiting for?

What makes you think the tubes are from 2007? Either way, el84's useful life is MUCH shorter than big bottles. However, the Doc says the Ghia is much easier on power tubes than other el84 amps. I'd get another set of JJ's and pop them in for comparison. See if you can tell a difference. If you can't, at least you now will have a spare set.
Also check what's in V2. 12ax7 or 5751? That can make a huge difference in tone.

I was told by the seller that's ito a 2007 amp. But I have no idea how old the tunes are.

I tried it out with new cab and holy crap it sounds good! That speaker combo sounds awesome.

I'm still loving it. The 2x12 has alot more clean headroom aND it very percussive.
