[glow=red,2,300]SOLD!![/glow]. I'm really excited that my good friend, Bill Roberts, went in today and bought the 'ray at RMC within hours of its arrival ;D Bill (formerly a huge Fender junkie), had heard mine for the first time last Saturday, and like many, was evidently impressed enough by this amp to go buy one! He is one of my favorite local players and I can't wait to hear him on the 'ray. Congrats, Bill...now you need to join the Z forum!

I am Glad Bill brought her home with him. Actually I brought her home for Bill. Don't think it would have fit in his 2 door. I was playing the Stang for about a half hour prior to Bill arriving and as soon as he walked in I handed him this very nice Custom Shop Strat and that was it. My credit card stayed in my wallet. Just got a 58 Les Paul on Monday did not need to spend anymore this week or even this month. I have a Z-28 and had a Maz and a 66. I had played some of the stings/stangs briefly but until I actually took some time with the Stang I had no idea what she really is about. Maybe I will step up to the plate and get the next one that arrives at Richmond Music. I have had chances on 3 or 4 of them.

Bill called me from his cell phone and said someone was behind him delivering the 'ray cause it wouldn't fit in his car...and his wife and daughter JUST HAPPENED to be in front of you two! He was trying to figure what to tell her when everyone arrived with a new amp. I think you took my Stingray home too. When I called Dave back a few months ago, he said someone who had just bought a Maz Jr had taken the 'ray home to try. When you (I think) brought it back the next day, I jumped on it quick! Good luck on the next one, you know it's bound to happen.

Joe here Bill.
I have never taken one Home. Dave has asked me many times to take one home for a few days but I have never have done that with the Sting/Stang. I just love the weight of my Z28 1x12 as far as transporting. I remember seeing yours. I think yours was one of the first if not First Heads that they got. I did see it before you did as I was there when it arrived
Funny as Bill and I were walking out of the house he introduced me to his wife and I started to say something like "I was just helping Bill get something in the " then I stopped mid sentence after I thought maybe he doesn't want his wife to know and I said something stupid like we were just doing some stuff. So much for a Clean Sneak into the house for Bill.

I wouldn't sweat it, Joe. You may have noticed the vast amount of gear in Bill's music room. I think his wife is sorta like mine...has pretty much given up trying to control their husband's GAS! Not that we don't have lots of diversion techniques at our disposal, though

His Music room looks very similar to mine pretty much same setup except only one drum kit over here oh and about 1/2 of the space. REal nice setup over there. I kicked my wife out 3 years ago so that issue has been taken care of.
I have heard a lot about you need to get out and see you at a gig some time. Dan P has told me numerous times to get out and see you play. Hard to do having split/joint custody of my daughter and playing music with a couple of groups of guys and not totally annoying the girlfriend. IF I get to see you play I will be the guy that introduces himself as the guy that took Bill Roberts Stang Ray to his first Home.

Sounds good, I look forward to meeting you Joe! So you know Danno? Still bummed he's moving to Philly, we're losing a good one, talk about a GAS KING of the highest order ...but he does post here from time to time.

Bill, dumping my Marshall 2061 head and cab for a Stang Ray head and cab in the same color combo like the one Bill took home. Supposed to hit RMC in July. I played that combo for a few minutes today, really nice tone. Sounds awesome with a Tele.

Man, you'll have some versatile tone at your fingertips once you have both. I should've known you were checking the 'ray out...Bill and Dave both said there were two others demoing it when Bill R walked in...they just didn't say who. Welcome to the forum, too...lot's of cool people & players hanging around here.

Bill R got it home yesterday, and gigged it only a couple hours later. His email to me this morning:
LOL!!! Joe showed amazing finesse when he choked down any mention of my GAS attack to Joyce. I am smiling from ear to ear! Joe is a super nice guy and agreed to bring the amp home for a total stranger. Lucky for me he had bought a Les Paul just this week. I'm sure you guys will have a lot to talk about when you meet. I love using it. It is very large and weighs 70 lbs. The cab is larger than the Twin. One good thing is that you can dial in a fat sound at a low volume. It is the only amp with MORE low end than a Fender. I tried the Maz Sr and it had so little low end I passed on it. But this Z is different. Is it ever! The blond is beautiful. I knew I was going to buy it as soon as I heard what color it was. It responds wonderfully to the pedals I used, the RT 66 and my trusty RP50 (someday I'll have to show you why, incredibly I love this cheapo digital pedal) But the sound is so sweet that you can turn it up without anyone complaining. Never has an amp given more variation out of three knobs. Now I have to figure out what to sell in order so somewhat offset the cost. Hmmmm. Two questions: Where can I get a cover? What do you do about servicing? There is already a "tube" crackle while a note is sounding which goes away when not. I don't want to get stuck paying shipping back to Dr Z in few months.
It's great to see all these die hard Fender guys moving to Z's. Speaking of Twins, would love to see Johnny Hiland trade his Twin for a 'Stang!

Hiland would go nuts for a Maz 38 and a Stang Ray. It's the sound he wants but hasn't found yet!

Hiland would go nuts for a Maz 38 and a Stang Ray. It's the sound he wants but hasn't found yet! He'd need at least 2 of each. He likes it LOUD! His band played for a guitar workshop I attended and he had 2 Twins (I think that's what they were) full blast. He's a really nice guy, though. I bought a CD and he was going to sign it but I was having trouble with the wrapper. He said "Let me help - I've got these fake fingernails that should get that open."

When I met Johnny and he stuck his hand out to shake, I found myself momentarily focusing in on his "dagger" glue-on fingernails, in the hopes I could avoid an unpleasant stick. And BW put the 'ole clamp down shake on me too...that dude's got some strong hands!

Hiland was using two Reissue '65 Twin Reverbs. A few months ago in Vintage Guitar I think he said he was using some other amps, I know he was talking up a PRS guitar.

Hey Bill (Madison) - I'm glad to see you converted Bill Roberts to a Z. His performance last year at the Crewe jam was memorable - he's a great showman!

This guy hates his ears, for sure. I can't handle ONE twin more than half way up. It sounds great, but it's too loud!
