Well, seems I have bought a Therapy. Not really sure how that happened. Was looking for a 38NR, thought about a RX original, and ES...have had most of the rest. Soooooo have no idea what this amp is about, however it has 6L6 and can handle others as well..that was enough for me. I have bought every single Z amp sound unheard. So I have a Z 4-10 cab that is just sitting thought I might use that. Stock...have several other cabs as well but thinking the 4-10 could be a killer fit...will see. Have a 38NR that is "lost" to the other guitar player in the band. Hence the Therapy.. So I am curious as to how this 6l6 amp is going to sound and sit in the mix. Always cool to get a Z....I have some I liked more than others but none were "bad".....lol.. The Beat Goes On...

You might be surprised. It's not like your other Z's for sure. Very cool amplifier.

It's hard to imagine any player not liking this amp. It's simply incredible. Hope you dig it! Let us know what you think.

It mixes really well with other amps so it should be a good partner in a band. Having loved a few of the EL84 amps from Z, I was glad to have big bottles again with the Therapy. I'm still getting to know mine and what it is capable of after quite a few months.
Hope you love it. I've been really digging the clean sounds lately...at first I was all about the drive sounds....with the MV you can enjoy both

As someone who has gone through a similar journey, I must say that this amp is definitely different. I love it. I would describe it as a touch saggier and not as immediate and is easy to get the goods from it at reasonable (or unreasonable) volume. I'm wanting to swap some tubes out to play around as well. Would love some KTs or EL34s in this thing.
Would love to try a 'Dote someday. But for now, this is it. oh yea, congrats, and it sits in the mix awesome!!!!

I am mostly a clean player, about 90% of the time. I will swap out the 12ax7 in V1 for a NOS 5751 if need be, and I have a couple of NOS GZ34 rectifiers hanging around as well..will use a Z- 4-10 cab..and as luck would have it I kept some old Svtlana EL 34 tubes from some Rivera's I used to have so will give those a shot as well...thinking a brown box if need be as I have NOS RCA Grey plate 6V6. Could lower the amp voltage and cut back the plate. That said, I ran some in my Remedy and had no problems so they should handle this amp. Have tons of NOS and other 6L6 tubes from RCA,JAN, Sylvania, etc...so I have alot to choose from as far as playing around with the amp. On the other hand, may suit me just fine right outa the box...Having been down these roads before I have learned you can;t judge an amp by its sound a half hour after you get it. It took me in reality about a year to get to the point with my first 38NR that no matter what, where, who or what guitar I was using...acoustic, strat, LP, Steel that I could dial in a killer tone in any situation. Sometimes the simplest designs have the most complex tones...looking forward to this one, as I am a big bottle fan...have some KT66's around too..Strat will be what I will use with it.

Sounds like you are dialed in in tubes. I like a good clean as well and there are some great cleans. Just keep the volume below 11 o'clock and bring that master up. Overall I would not discribe the Therapy as a "clean" amp like a Twin though. But since the Remedy worked you should be dialed in.

I went on an NOS tube swapping kick for a while with my Z's and have come to the conclusion that Doc's amps generally sound best with the stock tubes he designed them for. I have an NOS 5AR4 rectifier in my Therapy but went back to the stock tubes after trying some NOS 6L6's and a 5751. Your results may be different but my experience has been that since the amp was designed for the newer tubes, NOS don't necessarily sound better and in my case the stock 6L6's had more clean headroom and a nicer breakup when pushed than the NOS Sylvania 6L6's.

With a Stratocaster, loving clean tones, and the Therapy ; I think you will be really happy. Speaker choice will help you get whatever you want to magnify in the amp.

Strat will be what I will use with it. Therapy is a Strat player's dream come true.

My Z-28 was a Strat amp too..I am just a Strat guy...have a killer LP Standard that has been sitting longer than Budda..I can do a tele now and then but I have an American Standard Deluxe with the E serial #. pre strat to the strat plus...no roller nut, all orig gold lace sensors...no fancy bridge or locking anything...I believe it does have the tbx...a unique guitar...bought it new...seems all my stuff is ancient...pedal board consists of an original Marshall BB, the old metal ones with the blue writing...hahaha..chorus is a mayflower relic from boss... a 1983 Super OD and a couple of old huge, metal Dan-Echo's....I am stuck decades behind!...lol. I am going to start out with a Z/4-10 cab. Stock Z speakers. Have some old celestion Vintage 10's made in England before the "newer" stuff..could do a 2 & 2 ...also have some blue frame emi alnico;s from an early bassman reissue...and a few other misc 10's lying around. Will have lots of options as I always do. I have had the same experience with tubes, sometimes the new ones sound better...in newer amps...I have found the NOS sound best in vintage amps as a general rule...just talking power tubes ...preamps and rectifiers can improve things. I am looking forward to it...haven't had anything new in the amp area for quite a while...The Beat Goes On...
