Hey folks. I have been lusting for a Dr. Z since I saw a guitar inspiration of mine rocking a Rx Jr over 13 years ago. Finally I have joined the ranks of Z owners with the purchase of a red M12 head. I love the thick, clean sounds I get with my Es333 and the cool chime with my teles. This one is a keeper. Thanks for listening. I see more Zs in my future, maybe even a matching cab.

Congratulations on your first Z. The M12 was my second. First was a Z28. Tried the Maz 8 and had to get that one too. They take turns being my favorite, all are so good. As many here say...it's hard to resist having more than one Z.

Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your new M12. It's a fine choice for a first Z amp. And a Red one too, very nice.

Red was my least favorite color...then I got a red headed Therapy....now I love red and it looks great on top of my black 1x12 convertible cab. But man I'd love that Red with the Z Wreck grill cloth mmmmmm tasty. Welcome in and have you heard about the Steve Miller mod Dr. Z just told us about? Check it out here if you like

Thanks guys. I have enjoyed lurking around here over the past few months, seems like a great vibe.
Quick question: compare for me if you will the difference between running a Celestion Blue (or clone) through a Gold? Right now I have been playing the M12 through a WGS Reaper and I have tried it through a WGS Black and Blue (blue clone), but the Black and Blue had a high end sizzle that is not quite what I am going for, would a Gold take that edge off? I also have a Scumback Scumnico in a 2x12" cab that sounds wonderful, but I need to move it over to my 1x12" to see if it the effects of the cab design or the speaker.

The blue has more of that "sizzle" and a flubby bottom end. I don't find that to be the case with the gold.
I actually hate blues in darn near everything, whereas the gold is probably my favorite speaker.

So last night on a whim I switched over my 1x12" cab to a spare Greenback I had laying around. I had been dealing with a sizzle from the M12 at lower volumes when using a Blue clone, particularly from pedals. However, the Greenback fixed all of that and now things are singing. I suppose should not have doubted the good Doctor on his original choice of speaker.

Speakers are weird...you just got to play them long enough to be sure you do or don't like it. I had a Weber Blue Dog I wanted to like...the V30 the cab came with matched my Therapy better, just like Doc said it would. I had already sold the V30. Liking a Canabis Rex that I came across in a trade right now but still thinking about the V30. have fun with M12...

I have a cannabis Rex that I have in a hot rod deluxe cab that I use. Lots of low end and reduces any kind of sizzle in most amps. I have the m12 combo that now sports a creamback with good results but sometimes I run the m12 into the C Rex cab. I mostly use the cab for my old super champ. That amp suffered from too much highs through the little 10" speaker. Not now with the C Rex
