It sounds fabulous! Not the same as the Therapy or Remedy or Ghia - they are all different. I can see for around the house I will want a brake lite in it - I don't really need to play that loud here, but I DO need to hear those power tubes doing their thing. Glorious! Still have to flip the switch to 40W, but I'm a very happy camper right now. Dr. Z does it again!

Congrats...tell about the feeling difference between the Therapy...please. I've been thinking about selling a couple things to get a combo. If the Therapy had reverb and tremolo would you have wanted a Z Lux? Curious George over here huh? Ive been been thinking Red with the Sharkskin (Z Wreck) grill cloth.

If the Therapy had been a 42 lb. combo with reverb and tremolo, well that would have been on my radar. For playing out, head/cab combinations make the most sense to me, because you can pair different heads with different cabs for the specific venue, and they are lighter and easier to carry. For sheer convenience, the combo beats that. I like both. As far as comparing the Z-Lux and the Therapy - I'll have to do that later. Been thinking on setting up a head switcher so I can try them both on the same speaker.

I've got my Z-Lux right next to my Therapy in my studio. They both have the same speaker, the Z-12. My Z-Lux is the combo version, and the Therapy is atop a Z 1x12, center back open, so the cabs are very close. I can get quite similar tones from them at medium drive, with the volume on the Z-Lux around 1:00 and the Therapy around 11:00 or so...the Z-Lux comes into its own at lower drive settings. It'll get much cleaner than the Therapy will, a different note definition. I hate to drag other maker's names into it, but the Z-Lux has that great Fender clean thing going on that the Therapy can't do as well. On the other hand, the Therapy gets grittier and rocks harder at max gain settings. But that's nothing that a Z-Drive won't cure in a hurry. Please keep in mind, these are initial observations. I need to spend some more time listening and comparing. To be honest, the Therapy hasn't been seeing much play time in the 10 days or so that I've had my Z-Lux!

Fascinating. I've yet to set up my head to head comparison, but I would expect several things. The two are nothing alike as far as system design goes, neither front end nor power amp are similar. Thus I would expect to find certain dynamic differences besides tone differences. We'll see - should be fun finding out.

I was surprised at how close I could get, at least for one sound. They for sure are completely different animals.
