Wasn't sure where to post this question. I'm wanting to convert my 1x12 combo Stangray into a head. Are the chassis the same between the two configurations and will other z model cabs work if they are?

The normal Z cab will be fine (Maz, Remedy, SRZ, Antidote, etc). The smaller "upside down' cabs will not work (Z28 and Ghia) and nor will the cabs for a Route 66 or KT45)
The other thing is that the faceplate will be upside down unless you get a new one

I did a conversion once with a maz 38 head and it is not as easy as you would think. The chassis will be upside down as mentioned above. I ordered an extra faceplate for mine and put it on as I just could not stand looking at the chassis upside down( yes I know I am anal). That faceplate change was harder than I thought, and as I recall some soldering was involved which I had to get some one to do. Then after all that the back panel was still upside down, but I could live with that.
To me though, I like a head version better than the combo, but some people don't. The conversion was worth it to me. Good luck.
