Tried to sing as well on this one - I have a little flu and cough but that's not bad for Mark's voice:

It seems to me that your playing is improving....or at least that it seems your reaching for more difficult stuff. Great start tone. I don't know why but I really overlooked the Monza in the clean department, but after owning a non master Monza now for awhile I realize how wonderful it really is....with the low output Strat pickups it really is sparkling.
Does your Monza have a Brake Lite?

Sorry to hear you're sick, but you still sound good. I think the Monza has great clean tone, when you need it. Good choice for a Dire Straits cover.

Hey Simpleton, I have no brake lite and no master knob, I think this was one of the first ones made by the Doc. I bought it second hand in 2012 from a German dude. Infact in order to play bedroom friendly I always use a very lite overdrive, (Lovepedal Amp11), which is quite transparent and in these cases I set the pedal volume and drive knobs very low. In order to emulate Mark Knopfler tone with the strat I used the 4th switch position in between the neck and the middle pickup. Last but not least consider the strings were quite worn here so it would be probably better with newer strings. But hell yeah, I really like the Monza... when I brought it for a recording session last year at the studio the tech guy was really impressed, and he tried tens of different high quality amps. Sometimes I think that not having the brake lite or the master prevents me from experiencing the pure Monza saturation tone, and need to make use of pedals all the time - but I feel comfortable this way, its not a big deal and the tone is still amazing.

Well sending the amp to Dr Z for the MV Mod isn't a great option for you BUT I was asking because I was thinking a brake lite is more feasible an acquisition and it would help you get up a little more on the V knob. i hadn't heard a lot of love for the B.L. With the Monza but it's really been helping me to use the amp more without damaging my ears all the time AND it adds to the tonal flavors available. Just mount it I the cab and use it if you need it.

The prob with that is that may cabs are closed back, so I couldn't reach it once inside. And I think it's no way fitting within the head. Probably I should just place it above the head. I have been thinking about that, and I may eventually give it a shot! Thanks for your advice!

Oh yes I see : www.humbuckermusic.com/drzbrlisasta.htmlPretty interesting also the 2 speakers out, as I have 2 twin marshall 1912 cabs (I replaced the cones witha G12H30 and a Gold). OK - officially entering GAS phase .. Thank you Mike

I under estimated how much I would enjoy the Brake Lite because the two the attenuators I had didn't make me ever forget they were on. Somehow the Brake Lite is able to do that. Your tone is great as is and your live set up might not change but even if just for home, practice and recording the Brake Lite is a great score....AND TWO CABS IS BETTER

Wow! How'd I miss this one? One of my fave tunes bro. Nice stuff on all the licks. Lots of memory work there for sure, but you nailed it. Amp sounds great as usual, and yer Strat quacks nicely in that "in between" position! Very cool! DIG!!!!

Yep, great job !
I have to admit, though, being a huge Knopfler fan I was excited when I originally saw the thread title thinking Knopfler may have been spotted in concert with a Z !
