Hi everyone, I've had my CG for a little while, about 5-6 mos. this morning when I plugged in I wasn't getting any sound. After checking cables and such, I checked the tubes. The big tube on the far left (looking from the back) is not glowing. It is the biggest tube and I'm not sure which one it is I may need to replace.
I wanted to get your input on what my best course of action. I could re-tube the entire thing but I didn't want to spend that right now.
Thanks for the help.

That's the rectifier. You'll just need to replace that one.

On second thought, if the rectifier tube is out, nothing should be working.

Yes, rectifier tube if you're blowing fuses.
Get Slo-blow fuses, available at most any hardware stores, I got mine at Lowes. Check what amperage you need, I think that they're 1 amp.
NOS tube for the recifier, I'm north of the border, I get my tubes at the Tubestore. They have a recommended set for the Ghia, that's what I picked up.
My Ghia was second hand and previously gigged regularly. It had a lot of hours on the tubes, so I changed out the whole set.

So you are saying the jewel light comes on but no sound comes out when everything is plugged in? Speaker cable connection maybe? If fuses were bad nothing would power up. You tried a different guitar cable?

Welcome to the Forum erock! Here is a link to Doc's trouble shooting page. Read it and if you feel comfortable try to follow it. Be careful, though - there's enough voltage there to kill you if you touch the wrong thing. That can really ruin you day!!!

I didn't check the fuses. That will be the first step. I'll pick up a rectifier just as a back up.
I tried the amp with multiple cables and guitars.

The jewel light won't light up if the fuse is gone.

I hope you find the help you need here and get your problem sorted out, and again Welcome to you. Tubes can be quirky... When it comes to: 1) Fuses 2) Power tubes 3) Rec tube When any one of the above burns up or fries....it can take the others with it. So be sure to check all three. Most of the time, the smaller preamp tubes don't get damaged in these situations.
