We performed last night as part of a town concert series. It's our annual "rock 'n' roll" party. Heavy emphasis on late 1950s and 1960s material. This show is outside near a beach and draws several hundred people each year. I brought the Z-Lux and a Tele plus a few pedals. The Z-Lux was set pretty clean and was absolutely perfect. I was able to stand about 10' in front of it, so I could really hear the tone. (At bar gigs I don't have the space to do this.) I never once felt I wanted something sonically that I couldn't get. I used all the Z-Lux features too. Bit of reverb all night, trem for some songs, boost on others. A lot of tunes were just Z-Lux and guitar with guitar controls and pickup switching used to achieve different sounds. Having already used the amp for my more typical blues/rock gigs, I'm pretty convinced this will be my main gig amp going forward. Back to the gig: It was extremely hot and humid. Brutal during set up and the first 30 to 40 minutes of the show. Large and appreciative crowd, packed dance floor and a couple encores that extended beyond the stipulated stop time. I was feeling my age at the end of this gig, but it sure was fun.

Time to start a Z-Lux settings page eh? Could be For this show I had V at 10:30, Master at noon, Treble and Mid around 2 and Bass at 10. A little on the bright side, so the Tele tone knob was backed down most of the time. Reason for going there with the eq was to reduce the volume gap between boosted and unboosted modes. Having some treble in reserve on the guitar tone knob let me adjust the boosted tone to make it a little brighter when needed. I was in 20-watt mode throughout as there was a big FOH system, and I had plenty of stage volume.
