I just love this amp. So toneful and simple. I just re-tubed it front to back and it's like a second honeymoon. It just does a Tele bridge pickup right.

What's not to love, two knobs and great tone. What speaker are you using?

This amp sounds good with any of the guitars I have. I plugged my Heritage Golden Eagle arch top into my CG Anni last night and played for a couple of hours.
Terrific.

I've been using the Ghia with several different speakers as of late, trying to decide which I like best. Each one brings it's own character to the table. I've used it with the WGS Blackhawk 50, Celestion Cream Alnico, Celestion G12M GB, WGS Vet 30. They all sound good in their own way but I think my favorite so far might be the Cream Alnico - it's just a great sounding, toneful speaker. But to be honest, the Greenback sounded pretty darn good! I also have a BadCat custom speaker on the way as well. It's supposed to sound great in el84 amps.

This speaker has piqued my curiosity for some time.

I happen to like it paired with a Vintage 30... sounds very nice!

I like the Blackhawk 50. I think it's a great alternative to Celestion Gold and I actually prefer it to the Gold. It's not as bright/harsh/stiff and sounded pretty great right out of the box. I had two Blackhawks and just sold one to a buddy of mine. He put it in his vintage 59 Tremolux and it sounds awesome in that amp as well. It beefed up the tone of the amp and still has the alnico character he was looking for - chime and compression but still has good headroom. It's my second favorite next to the Cream Alnico. I only give the nod to the Cream because it's a tad bit smoother overall.

Any of you guys try your CG through a 12-65?

I've got a WGS ET-65 mounted in my '67 Deluxe Reverb, and it really shines in that amplifier. I've got to get that amp out and try this combination. I've tried the Ghia with a Celestion Blue, a Texas Heat, a G12H30, EVM 12-L, DR.Z 12", 10" Red Fang, and a 10" Ramrod. I like the Blue the best so far, but it sounds great with the Red Fang too. What everyone says about the CG being sensitive to speaker changes is really true. Huge difference.

Cool; thanks for the info.
I'm thinking of respeakering a 2x12 cab I have with the WGS ET65 and Veteran 30 (which they say is their best sounding match); I would use this with my Therapy/Rativ2/KT45 and maybe the Ghia, which I usually run into a Ramrod for small jobs and Mesa 1x12 open back for larger places.

Just recently I loaded a new 2×12 cab with an ET65/Veteran 30 mix. Very nice sounding cab--tight, musical, and not overly colored or massive "character" in any one particular sonic direction. Seems very versatile. Wish I could try it with the Ghia! Hoping to get another Ghia back in the stable soon. I'm thinking the 30W Blue Dog in a 1×12 would be option #1, however going up to a 2×12 I'm thinking this WGS speaker combo would suit it well.

Another quick note - The Weber Silverbell Ceramic sounds great in the Ghia! Now I'm wishing I would have tried it sooner! I'll have to get the Cream back in to compare the two, but the Silverbell may be my new favorite speaker with the Ghia. It has the bottom end punch from the ceramic and highs and mids are just about perfect for my liking. The high end is bright enough to cut through the mix but not harsh - just right with my tele. This really makes me want to try the Alnico version Silverbell in the Ghia.

I have a 10" CGold in my Z28 combo; excellent for a one-piece grab and go, and if I add a 1x12 extension cab it has good authority on a bandstand.

My CG came with a 1x12 and a V30.
Since then, I picked up a Zbest 2x12 with two V30s. The amp just roars with this set up.
I also retubed a while ago and the amp sounded better than ever.
I ran it the other day with the newly revamped band board, that amp gives me shivers, in a good way.

The Ghia 1x10 is what I must often take for practice.

The Weber SB (Mine being 30 watts and AlNiCo, as I've posted before) really adds some needed bottom end and beautiful chime to my tone. Arguably the single best choice as a stand-alone speaker for the Ghia. Ted Weber himself recommended it to me shortly before his untimely demise.

I just love this amp. So toneful and simple. I just re-tubed it front to back and it's like a second honeymoon. It just does a Tele bridge pickup right. I'm thinking about selling my M12 for a Ghia. I thought you owned an M12? Didn't you have one and sell it and then regret letting her go and then bought another M12? Any reason you got rid of the M12? My issue is that I don't gig often, but when I do I don't see how the M12 is possibly going to hang with the band. I find that the only way to get usable volume from the M12 is to run the Treble and Bass high and then it starts breaking up.

While I thought the M12 was a really nice amp I don't miss it at all over the Ghia. The Ghia is so simple and full of tone. I seem to prefer the harmonic content and overall EQ of the Ghia. The M12 is more neutral in tone. Not to say that's a bad thing, just wasn't what I was after.
