I've read they are different--what is the difference? Therapy has a "true" master volume, meaning it functions pretty much like a continuously variable attenuator. It doesn't alter the amp's tone as you move it around. (Important note: Due to properties of human hearing and how much speaker breakup is part of tone, amp --> speaker --> ear is going to sound different when the master is wide open than when it's set low.) Z-Lux master is more like that on the MAZ series of amps (and the out-of-production JAZ 20/40). It can be thought of as a volume control for the power amp, while the Volume knob is controlling the preamp. Having the two controls lets you set a blend between preamp tube and power amp tube drive/overdrive. That said, Master on the Z-Lux does work quite well to raise and lower output level without huge sonic differences, unless you're making large changes. Put another way, at a gig, I started with master at 10 o'clock and the guys told me I needed to be louder -- don't laugh, true story -- so I upped it to noon and didn't need to alter any other amp settings. Hope that helps.
