I'm sold! I need a Lux....but one of my Z's will have to go. I have a Maz 18, a Maz 8, a Remedy and a Therapy......I'd never trade either of the Maz amps so.....which of the other two should a sell to fund the Zux?? We play a broad mix of classic rock, and I use pedals (mostly for delay and differing degrees of overdrive, and a volume pedal) and switch between teles and Les Pauls, depending on what the tune needs. Volume is always an issue - that's why I use the pedals - I can't even crank the Maz 8 most of the time!..... So....between the Remedy and the Therapy, which one would I like to have along side a new Lux? I know there isn't a right answer, but.....maybe there is from you guys!! (The real right answer is to keep every Dr Z and just keep adding....but right now, that's not one of my options - if I want to stay happily married!) What sayeth?

Wow, it's like picking which of your kids to keep.
My latest amps were Remedy and Therapy. I still have my Therapy and I don't miss the Remedy toooo much but would have kept if I could.
Can't really tell you which way to go though . . .

Paper, rock, scissors? Seriously, I don't think you could go wrong with either one. If the Remedy doesn't have the MV that might sway things toward the Therapy since you are fighting volume issues...

Well....write down what ground each amp covers tone wise. Then sell the one that overlaps the most with the Z Lux. That is my method.
Sent from my SM-N900V using proboards

I say Maz 8 - I know it's not an option - BUT can't the MAZ 18 with a brake lite do the same?

Sent from my SM-N900V using proboards Originally the Remedy didn't have the MV-- I sent it back to have it updated! (MV & EQ bypass boost) i can cover most grounds with either amp- with a bit of dialing. This is is really tough!!

I think what I'd like to know is-- which of the two (Remedy or Therapy) can get tones that the Lux couldn't at all. I've never played a Lux - I'm going on reviews and demos....and the fact that the other two are heads and the Lux is a combo which would be nice for a grab and go.
Todd... So did you make the choice of Therapy over Remedy??

Ive never played the remedy but did have the therapy and have the maz 18. I never could bond with the therapy, something about that amp I just didnt care for. after I bought it, I played it a half dozen times and there is sat getting no use at all. I have the Jaz 20/40 which is supposedly the zlux but the zlux having a few tweaks, and I really like it a lot. If I had to make the choice Id dump the therapy but thats just me because I dont like that amp, the maz 8 I cant speak for

From my worn out broke down ears, the Remedy is the one that can make sounds that the others cannot. Therapy is a very cool amp, but in your situation... On the other hand, the Therapy makes sounds completely different from the Maz tones. Tough call either way.

If you must, I'd let the MAZ 18 go. One reason is that it's probably the easiest amp to re-acquire on the used market at some point. Even though the Z-Lux and Remedy share a 20/40 watt 4 x 6V6 power section, Steve (benttop) nailed it: the Remedy will make sounds you can't get from the other amps. Therapy is a different design and feel than the others. MAZ 8 and 18 probably have the greatest sonic overlap, although they're far from identical. I'm with Todd on that choice: the triode-pentode switching is very cool. Of course, while you solicited this advice, you aren't paying for it. That may say something about its value

My advice--keep all the Z's and save up for the lux. EVERY time I sell something I regret it later. Of course if you cannot do this, simply pick the amp you use and like the least and sell it. My two cents worth.
