Loved the clean stuff. Hated the stomp box stuff.

Loved the clean stuff. Hated the stomp box stuff. Yeah, it was the first half of the demo (the clean stuff) that I liked too. Truth be known, I stopped watching pretty early on when the Anderson guitar part started Edit-I just went back and listened to the stomp box part and I really didn't find it that bad. It's not a way I'd use the amp if I bought it, but it does show how the amp works with excess overdrive/distortion pedals. However, the first half of the demo really shows the amp in all its glory. Edit 2-I just listened to the stomp box stuff again and I actually like it.....its begun to grow on me

Loved the clean stuff. Hated the stomp box stuff. To me it ceases to be an amp demo when the stomp box gets kicked on. Would have been cooler to just crank up the volume knob on the amp and then demonstrate how working the guitar volume lets you create shades of tone. In my opinion, of course.

It's a tough one. Everybody asks about "cleans" then they ask "does it take pedals". I think Chicago Music Exchange does good demo vids. Theirs and Humbucker Music focus more on tone and sounds you can get out of the amps than a lot of the "hot licks" demo vids.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I can't understand why you would turn on a solid state distortion device in front of such a beautiful sounding tube amp. Just my one little thing I have here...

I just don't get it....... this is an amp demo, so why stick an over he top distortion box in the way? To show the amp can "handle it" ? ANY amp can "handle" that level of distortion! An otherwise excellent amp demo video.......up to the point it became pedal demo video

I liked that he showed the clean and dirty side of the amp. For me it was good to hear what it sounds like driven hard as well as clean.

I think it's interesting that the Z-Lux can get that degree of overdrive with a Timmy, which isn't exactly a high-gain pedal. Sounded a little buzzy to my ear, but that could have been the recording, guitar, etc. Also some nice harmonics, although his playing wasn't great in that part of the demo. I use pedals a lot, and would use them much of the time with the Z-Lux if I bought one, so this was informative to me. Gorgeous cleans and natural breakup on that amp, though. On the fence--not that it's an issue; got to get a lift for the pontoon boat before acquiring any new gear.

Re the OD: I prefer what Dave Baker does in his demo, which is to crank up the Volume knob, then add the boost. That's amp tone, baby

(and I don't want to sound all dismissive of the guy's video - far from it! What he does in the first half is great, but when the fizz box kicks in....... not so much )

I stopped in at Matt's Music yesterday and the first combination I tried... The Z Lux with a Nash Strat with Lollars. Amazing tone and feel. Doc hit a home run with that amp!
