This Saturday I'm playing a gig at a campground for a few hundred people. The 'stage' is a transport trailer with one of the sides removed. Having played hollow stages before I'm a little worried about interaction with the floor, but I'm more worried about what kind of standing waves might be floating around in what is essentially a giant metal box. I have three options for cabs: open back 1-12, closed-back 1-12 and a Z-Best. I'm a little worried about the open back muddying things up with reflections off the back wall and corner and I don't know if it's worth hauling the Z-Best given I'll likely be standing within a few feet of it.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Elevate the cab off the floor. Coupling it with the floor will create the issues you're trying to avoid. Agree with the others; a closed-back cab with throw the sound forward, out of the "box" stage, whereas an open-backed cab will spread it throughout the box.

I thought the whole idea of the openback WAS to have the sound reflect out the back, bounce around and fill up the room...instead of the closed back with it's beaming sound tendency.
If you are mic'ing the cabinet, then sure, go for the closed back.

I find that the Auralex Gramma is a terrific tool for isolating an amp; I use it for every job I play, no matter what amp/cabinet/ guitar or venue I'm playing. I use solely open backed cabinets because they are easier for everyone to hear on the bandstand, particularly if you're unmiced or don't have monitors.

Whatever is easiest to carry! Crank it up and let it rip. Too hard to really have great sound in that situation to worry too much about it, imo.
Let us know what you go with and how it works out, k?

^^^^^ Easiest to carry rules out the Z-Best. Other cabs are similar in weight so it's just the open/Creamback vs. the closed/V30. I prefer the sound of the creamback, but given that I'll be hearing mostly rumbling bass I don't know that it matters that much which cab I bring. Regardless it'll be fun to give my amp volume a crank again. I think I'll bring both the Route and the Maz jr. just to add to the confusion/fun.
