This fine specimen belongs to my bud Jason Elmore, it's blowing fuses and I suspect Comrade GZ34. I would have looked into it by now, but I am afraid to try to physically hoist it up on my junky bench by myself! A MAZ 38NR 2X12 combo is hefty enough with the stock speakers, but throw a coupla EV's into the equation and it is a guaranteed trip to Doc Yankum. Well over 100#lbs.

Dang, hunt up a crane. I remember hauling out Twins with a pair of those in them in the 70s. Also had a Mesa 112 Mark IIB with one of those EVs. When folks would ask if they could help me load out at the end of the night, I would always say, sure, grab that little amp, and then just watch.

Two EV's.... bet that combo has volume to match its weight!
I also used to own a Boogie Mk IIB. Mine had the stock Black Shadow speaker, which always sounded a bit dark to me. Anyway, I bought a 1x12 ext cab with an EV in it, and just used it as exactly that, an extension cab. One day I decided to sell that cab, and in order to demo it to the buyer I connected it on its own to my Boogie. Stupidly it was the first time I'd ever done this, and man, what a sound; the guy bought it on the spot but I wished he hadn't. Lesson learned, again!

Forklift...I always carry a spare one in the trunk for gigs.

I would term this a "young man's amp."

Wow, yeah. My Maz Sr 1x12 is heavy enough, but still manageable. I can't imagine the weight with that one. Had a 2x12 Stangray for a while and that was heavy. Then add around another 10 lbs for each of those EVs. I considered EVs a little while back and when I saw the extra 10 lbs per speaker I decided it was not for me.

yep, the EV's are great sounding, but really LOUD and BRIGHT and more than a little heavy. I still love the 1X12 combos, easiest to move around. Also dig the 2X10 convertible w/ any head I have, the middle panel is off so some air can get out. Still play my Zbest a fair amount, usually w/ an SRZ. It WHOMPS!

I was recording with my maz 38 2x12 a couple weeks ago when she blew a fuse on me... the very idea of having to move the amp to see what was going on so overwhelmed me that i shut it off and haven't done anything with it still. mine's sitting right about 75 lbs. and, yeah... gz34 has been the culprit for me in the past.

I would term this a "young man's amp." I second the young man connection. In my teens and twenties I was hauling (2) 4x12's w/ EV SRO's in it. That was some serious heavy. Sounded great w/ my Marshall plexi, but in my 60's that's a distant memory. I think I got rid of that rig right around 30. Wish I was smart enough to have kept that Marshall head. Oh well, my back is still in good shape.
