JAZ lacks a woodiness to the tone that the EZG has. JAZ lacks an openness to the tone that the EZG has. EZG reverb is much sweeter and controllable. EZG lacks the scooped mids of the JAZ however. Just my thoughts, but I definitely feel like the EZG "breathed" more, like the notes were just exploding off the fretboard, even at low volumes, the dynamics were incredible. Having considered all that, I'm happy I kept the JAZ.

I've had both the EZG and Jaz. I prefer my jaz much more than the ezg. I just bought the jaz a few weeks ago and love it.

As I live with this amp more, I can say I have no regrets trading my EZG at all. The differences I noted were very slight, nit-picking observations. The JAZ couldn't be more perfect for me. It is only slightly less open sounding and woody than the EZG, but my theory is its mostly just the difference between 6V6 and 6L6, guess I just happen to prefer 6V6s. And while the reverb is more controllable on the EZG, its quality is definitely matched by the JAZ.

Two fine amps indeed.
Until the Z-Lux, which is an update of the JAZ, was introduced, the JAZ was the only Z I know of with tremolo. It's a really nice tremolo.
