How is the clean headroom of the antidote say compared to the Stangray ? My friend made me a great offer on my ray so now I'm ampless again setting on some cash. I mainly play country and classic rock with a tele and strat and mostly use pedals for dirt , but also like a amp that will get good hair on the notes like the ray if I want it to. I really liked the ray but just thinking something different this time ,also considering the jaz and ezg . The other guitar player in the group has a loud boogie and now a steel player will be sitting in. I want something huge sounding and can hang with no problem. I really like the clips I heard of the dote but wanted some opinions. So what you guys recommend ?

I don't have one...but I've seen the amp tossed around here a few times in the last little while...
How about a KT-45 ?
It sounds a lot like what you are looking for based on what I've heard people say. Maybe if Phil see's this post he'll chime in.....

I can't compare to KT because I don't have one but the dote can do some beautiful cleans

One other thing:
With the KT, I can't imagine needing to be louder.
My reference point for this is my old live rig that was a '67 Fender BF Vibrolux Reverb (2x10 combo) with a 15" extension can run with a '65 Fender BF Showman head through a cabinet with three twelves in it, both amps at the same time.

The Antidote can do cleans but not as well as the EZG50 IMHO. I just had Matias over here two nights ago on the quest for a clean amp that sounds great with a pedal to give it some hair. We tried the Antidote (maybe my favorite Z), the EZG50, the Therapy, and finally the Z-28. I think for Matias the Antidote and Z-28 were winners though it did depend on the cab being played through.

Well, I happen to have an EZG as well and must agree with Jag. The Dote will not do them as well as the EZG but it sure has it's own voice of clean. Probably the most under rated amp. This amp can do it all. Speaker selection is key

+ 1 on the speaker selection with the Dote and single coils vs. humbuggies make a difference too.

EZG or Z Luxe I would think are good choices

It can be big, bold, and clean. Lots of snap. Loud enough for most situations which require that. ME

Cool. Haven't tried the Creamback but I've heard many good things. I'm no stranger to Vintage 30s though. Actually, along those same lines, I've been digging the Eminence Governor...kind of a Vintage 30 with a smoother top end (to my ears, anyway).

The best thing about the Dote cleans are that they are thick and juicy... not to mention they can get loud fast!
