I'm sure it'll do it, but how close does it get? Maybe the JAZ or EZG is a better choice?

Maybe using a semi-hollow guitar is the key. Also, he loves Cannibas rex speakers. Good luck!

I always wondered the same thing about the therapy and can't get any good answer, may just have to buy one and run it thru some Weber speakers that i have in cabs. I always use that sound Pete had for my base and found it somewhat in a modded Vintage Sound Amp 1x12 built with a bigger transformer to output around 40 watts..Never tried the EZG-50 or Therapy but probably will at some point..

Thanks for the responses. I know tone can be a pretty subjective topic, so maybe this is a tough question to answer. And to be clear, i'm talking first few Dwight albums Pete Anderson tone. Perhaps i should try crossposting the same question in the EZG and JAZ sections. Or maybe the Z 28?

Of course, you'll probably get at least 50% of the Z lineup mentioned as "possibles."

Thats's a good idea. Maybe i can cover all the bases there. It does seem like there's more than a few candidates.

I'm a massive Dwight Yoakam fan, and love Pete Anderson's work with him. His first two albums: killer. "This Time": one of the best albums of my lifetime. I loved "Blame the Vain". His last one "3 Pears" was great, with some tips of the hat to the Beatles on there. I hear he has a new album coming out anytime now this month. I'll be copping it. ive picked up quite a few of the Pete Anderson solo albums through the years. They don't grab me by the soul as much as the Dwight Yoakam albums, but they are very well done. Did LOVE that one song "What About Me" off his (?) first album. Very creative ideas and risk taking in its faux crappy style.

Couldn't agree more with all the above. Gotmojo, as an Anderson fan and a Therapy owner, what are your thoughts on getting that tone from the Therapy?

Well, I never really thought of his tone as so unusual, so I thinks it's his playing style that grabs me. I think he could make my Therapy sound like a million bucks!

I think you'd want the JAZ. His tone on songs like Please Please Baby had a pretty vocal midrange so I would say JAZ with Celestion G12H30 couldn't be more spot on.

Keep in mind that on recordings production/engineering (mic selection and placmemt, the room, eq and the like) have a huge impact on sound. Recreating the time someone has on a record in a live room situation can be almost impossible...

Time equals tone (auto correct can be evil)

Yes Z Lux and JAZ pretty much same amp. But stock Z Lux is a scooped midrange deluxe sound. Pete anderson tone has a good amount of honk, you need to add a celestion speaker to it to get that sound.
