I love my Ghia so much I bought another head to have....Couldn't pass up the deal.. It was a GREAT price....
My Ghia (blacked out) I use has the 16ohm mod from Z...Whereas this new head is only rated for 8ohm....All my cab's are rated at 16ohms....I was told I could still use the new head (8ohm) with my cabs even though they are 16ohm...Is this correct?
Anyway....now I have 2 Ghias and a Stangray!!!! I still blame you Mike for my "Z" gas....lol

You're OK with that mismatch. It's not optimal, but you won't jeopardize the amp. (If you plugged a 4-ohm cab into the 8-ohm speaker jack, that would be a problem!) If you want to run two 16-ohm cabs, put them in parallel. That will be an 8-ohm load and match exactly to the amp. (Our forum buddy Todd (PCNS) makes great speaker connectors if you'd like to try this setup.)

Also, if you're using a Brake Lite or Air Brake, the amp will generally "see" closer to 8 ohms on most settings, regardless of what speaker load is plugged in downstream. [This is unconfirmed from the Doc himself, but corroborated by attenuator info I've received from other technical experts such as Weber, Aiken, Scumback, etc.]

You say you have a Stangray too. I am thinking about one of these but really not sure if I will get to use it as often as the Ghia. I found my Vox AC30 and Route 66 never get used unless we do some big outdoor festival or something but even then we get miced up.
Do you find yourself using the Ghia more than the Ray?

telego...(sorry for the delayed response)....I use my Ghia more I've owned the Stangray for a over a year and have only used it 3x's...but the Ghia is my real prize and I use it all the time...It sounds great with my zWreck cab and my single 12 Dr.z cabs.....That's why I bought the second Ghia:)....Just my opinion though...lol

I guess I missed that one somehow, although it makes sense given that the 25th Ann. Ghia's have 4-8-16 ohm taps. Does Doc just replace the entire tranny?

Nice, I wouldn't mind having two. And a 16ohm tap would be real nice.
