I've been struggling with input level issues with my new Digidesign equipment - you'd think they'd put an input pad on there! But I rolled my Yamiha 01V96 over there and used its preamps (which correctly HAVE -20db pads) and got things running tonight. Then my headphones crapped out! It's always something! So that's my prequel - levels are wrong, headphones didn't work, blah blah blah.... ignore the playing, but listen to that GT! Holy cow! I love that amp, especially through the Z-Best! Grosh Strat > Mazerati GT > Airbrake (-4 clicks) > Z-Best Volume and Tone at noon Clip is a bit longish - I get carried away with this amp. MazeratiGTnMe.mp3

Equipment troubles or no, you're squeezing some sweet sounds out of that GT, bro! Nice playing too, BTW. Are you getting your clean/dirty sounds with just pick attack and volume knob on the guitar?

Oh, sorry, I was going to write something about that and forgot. Yeah, all of the saturation differences are volume control and pick/finger attack. I started out all fingers. There's a slight pause in there somewhere - that's where I grabbed my pick out of my teeth. I also used both the neck and bridge pickups on my Strat. The neck is a Fralin Blues Special, the bridge is a custom DiMarzio Humbucker. By the way, I realized here quite a while after I posted that clip that it is the basic form of a tune I hear on Sirius Blues 74 all the time. I'm trying to think who it is (Duke Robillard?), but it's an instrumental I hear on there. I didn't play it at all like it should be played, because I wasn't thinking about that song at all - in fact I thought I was having an idea of my own. 'swhy I seldom write anything - too many tunes bouncing around in my noggin.

Thanks guys. I do have a PRS here with Fralin Humbuckers, but I'm not really fond of how it sounds. Don't you hate it when that happens? I'm not sure if I'll change the pups again or just try to trade it for something I really want, like a Gretsch or whatever. But I suppose it would do for a bit of a "real humbucker" check with the GT. After all, I have the mics all set up...

Nice Job Steve, i had to read further to find out you had a humbucker in the Grosh. Sounds excellent nice job. I liked the violin type sustain as the clip progressed. Paul
