Figure I'd do a quick write up, I haven't seen too much on this one.
I've owned about 50 overdrive pedals over the last 10 years and can never seem to get one that sounds like my amp with just a little more hair on it. This pedal is great it does something to your picking dynamics and makes it easier to play somehow (hard to describe, similar to what the durham sexdrive does with its comp mode).
It can do a slightly gritty boost to all out blues rock overdrive. Used it at a gig on Friday with a maz18 and it sounded fantastic. If anyone is interested I'll post some sound/video clips.
Only con is the color, it's literally poop brown.

Just checked out a demo video and it sounds incredible as expected. I need another dirt pedal like I need another dead 9 volt battery, but it's still fun to look.
As for the colour, maybe that means you'll be less likely to stomp hard on it?

Only con is the color, it's literally poop brown. Currently using the combination of poop brown and vomit green OD's.

Thanks for the post. Yeah, I would be interested in some demos. I think part of the problem with video reviews online is that they are too perfect and everything sounds appealing. Everything begins to sound homogenized and the same too. That's part of why I think we may try so many of them! We know with tube amps especially, that the fusion of tube types, design, & speakers, along with the guitar and pickups used creates a reaction to our playing. And then, we want the same reaction at every level of volume which I personally think is impossible to put in a box. Moving air that creates feedback, and gain on certain frequencies that creates feedback, sounds and feels different. But it is useful to have the simulation of intensity with nuance and dynamic feel, and that is what we want in a box like this one. So was the MAZ set up with a pretty good spank on it to work with the pedal?

The maz was up a good amount. Master on 12 and volume on 12. Kind of a dirty clean.

^^^ Ever tried a SubDecay Liquid Sunshine? I have all three versions and they do a great job in that kind of situation. Happy to loan you one if you want to check it out.

Sure doesn't sound like poop! Yeah, Pete's demo reveals what to me was very useable, and that is the 3 levels of grit he got with the Strat when he rolled the volume back and then in stages up to full. Some of the pedals just leave me amazed compared to the crude devices I grew up with, and how much work it took to know how to use them. I could be wrong but I suspect most of yesterday's overdrive pedals were made to push an already spanking' amp, and they are not very impressive going from lower levels of clean to a convincing drive tone. Back in the late 60's and early 70's sign language was normal communication in many venues! These new pedals like this one will do the whole potato, which makes them a much better buy. Sounds like a nice choice.

try the old marshall BB pedal....the big old metal ones...sound really good either as a boost or OD...if you are looking for heavy, it wont cover that but it can cover alot of ground...can do a real nice edge of breakup sound and reacts to pick dynamics as well...works well with my strat or LP ...or PRS etc...

I love the Simble! Maybe THE most transparent OD pedal I've ever tried. I find it does it's best classic Dumble impersonation ( think Robben Ford, Carlton, etc.) thru a clean set amp. Really smooth but punchy and super touch sensitive dynamics. Thru a dirty amp I still think it's very useful as an organic overdrive. I think you have to remember tho that it still retains an inherent smooth drive so doesn't have a lot of teeth, if you were looking for that. Pete Thorns, and Andy at Pro Guitar shops YouTube clips show a little more of the generic overdrive sounds, whereas the MP clips really nail the Robben ford thing. It's on my board when I go thru a clean Fender channel!

Yeah. The old black one. I have one and have always thought it was one of the best pedals (bar none regardless of cost) for a slight grit without destroying the amp's natural sound. I don't think they sold very well so they have kind of been forgotten. I think the JHS Morning Glory is based on it.

Wow this pedal sounds pretty sweet. I'm trying to call it quits on over drives, but....the flesh is weak, as is my will power.

Just traded for one of these from TRock and really like the pedal. Unlike many Dumble pedals I have tried the amp does not have to cranked up to get it to sound good. This will stay on the board for good ......I think

I knew you would like that one. I'm glad you dig it.
Like I told you... Almost better than the GS 124.

Happened to pull this pedal off the shelf, before reading this post again. I was looking for a particular tone. It delivered in spades. I also spent a great amount of time spinning dials and enjoying the discovery process all over again. Funny how walking away from something for a while can breathe new life into it.
