This is my first posting since two months ago when I suddenly and sadly lost my wife of 19 years. Several of my Z forum friends reached out with thought and prayers at that time and I want to say thanks very much for that support.
It was a month before I could pick up the guitar again, but in the process of getting through this, I have rediscovered the guitar as an outlet and a voice. Recently, I have begun playing in church again and have felt the urge to do a little recording in the home music room.
Wanted to share today’s recording with you all. It helps me these days to have something to focus on and try to pour out the expression in a positive way.
I’ve always loved the Jeff Beck instrumental ‘Cause we’ve ended as lovers’ and was fortunate enough to recently find a backing track for it on the web. My take is about 50% per the script of the song and 50% improvised in the context of the song.
This was supposed to be the test run for levels/tone before my real “Take 1” of the song – but over time I have learned to record the “test run” too, as it might actually turn out to be the one you play best for that day in terms of accuracy or self expression. This was the case this morning as Takes 2-3 were not as together as this one. Perhaps the coffee was stronger in my system or something.
Here it is – warts and all as I like to say.
Hope you enjoy it. It is good to be back on the forum and I hope to be posting more again soon.
Take care,
Moses

PS - there is a ghost guitar part at the 3 minute mark that I could not delete from the backing track, so I just kept playing over it. Lasts about 10 seconds... Can't complain about a free backing track - especially to this song.
