Ended on ebay for 1476.00 plus shipping, GEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZ, is that what they're going for now? I love mine, but that's tempting to sell at that price, especially the way things are NOT moving!!!!!

Congrats on the purchase! I hope you enjoy the amp.
I paid $1250 in April on ebay and wasn't sure if that was reasonable. At the time I guessed it was a bit high. Still not much data out there.
I haven't owned a ton of amps and this is my first EL-34 amp. Just decided I had to try this one. Great amp, no intention of selling it anytime soon.

Any price is a good price for a KT45!

Hey Bama, are you Maury??? Another KT 45 was sold on TGP last week for a grand plus shipping!! Man, I wanted that one, I'm running my 45 thru a couple 2 x 12 cabs, thought it would be nice to have a 45 sitting on each cab!! I just traded a JCM 800 2 x 12 combo ( OUCH-my back ) for a Reinhardt V 50 head, sit that next to the 45 and run em in stereo, see what happens.

There was this one on Ebay 2 months ago.I remember emailing the guy and asking if he would ship it out to me in Australia. His was a black tolex salt and pepper grill cloth model. He had a starting price of $975 and I ended up kicking myself as it didn't even get one bid on it. Then I have remember one last year in red tolex fetching $1100,so don't feel like you paid too much. I have been wanting a KT45 for a while now but finances have prevented me from getting my hands on one. The second hand market is pretty lucrative anyway, if it has a good set of valves and is in great condition then I think you are on a winner. These amps are all keepers mate. I have 3 Z's and I'm not selling any.

I bought mine from a friend back in Aug for $850 with a Boss Chorus pedal. Mine is a red tolex mint condition 1998 all original. It sounds amazing through my avatar 212 vintage 30 cab. Congrats on the purchase.

I couldn't get a grand for mine a couple months ago, Although in reality, I'm glad I didn't sell it. Mine is near mint with flame maple ( I think?? ) front. I love the clean tones, damn fine amp.

I bought mine new in April of this year ('07) from TrueTone Music in California. From what I heard it was the last "new" KT-45 out there. I paid $1250.

interesting to see these amps appreciate in value... how can i figure out the date on my amp - i'm sure via the serial number, right? Remember a while back there was a picture of Audley Freed on the Dr Z homepage with a kt 45 that had a vox grill cloth? that's the one i have with a matching 4x10 cab. i'll have to figure out how to post a picture soon.. but yeah, i bought it for a real good price from a guy who had it for about 6 months,..

I payed $1600 for my 2x12 combo with an ATA flight case. Given the scarcity, you didn't get a bad deal (condition permitting of course).

Don't quote me as you'd better ask the Doc but i think you have only 1 of 2 KT45 combos in existence. I can't wait to save some $$$ and get myself one as well.

Man, a few years ago ( maybe 3 ) I had a 2 x 12 combo KT 45, I paid under a grand shipped. Traded it off for something else. What an idiot!! Course, I'm way past the point of lugging a 2 x 12 combo around, but if I remember correctly, that one wasn't a beast to move.

I bought mine new in April of this year ('07) from TrueTone Music in California. From what I heard it was the last "new" KT-45 out there. I paid $1250. I paid $1,499 for a new KT45 head in April from UltraSound. I thought I was paying list price. Now I'm not sure. Here's why - A few weeks later I was at TrueTone Music asking about what kind of discount I could get on a Z cab. They told me Z products are never discounted due to a policy set by Z. (I forget the term for this kind of policy but I know it's common among companies who make premium-type products, not only music gear.) So, either I got screwed on my amp purchase, or they were lying/mistaken at TrueTone because willfulmurder got a better price on his KT right there the same month. Unless his KT had been bought by TrueTone at a time when the list price was lower. Seems unlikely as the amp had been out of production for a year at that time. And there I was thinking I had bought the last new one. Hey willfulmurder, what day in April did you buy it?

"Hey willfulmurder, what day in April did you buy it?"
I'm not sure of the exact day. I put $600 down one week, and the other $650 a week later. He shipped it to Seattle for free. It was almost certainly in late april/eary may.
I found the amp after contacting Dr. Z to see if there were any available for sale in the US. Brent (?) put me in touch with one of the TrueTone salesmen.
The amp is black with black grillcloth and green jewel.
I couldn't be happier with it.

Yeah, I love mine, too. Mine is black with salt and pepper grill and the jewel is purple. I think you got a great deal on yours - my shipping cost me $50. Is that Townshend in your avatar space? I think he's one of the the most underated rock guitarists. When i cranked the KT it sounded similar to his Hiwatt - just as doc described it.

I would have paid $1400 for my KT-45, without blinking...
Since they are out of production, I'm not surprised that prices are creeping up...
Having just been to the Z-fest Northwest, and having heard a number of Z amps, I still like the KT-45 the best. Its got serious Hard Rock mojo and keep the defribulator handy when you play power chords... they really hit you in the chest.
I even thought my 45 sounded different (and bigger) than the 45 section of a 6545. Perhaps its the green jewel!
That is Townshend. Now you know why I bought the KT-45.

That other sucker would be me . I just had to have one after hearing so many good things about these heads. I originally wanted a Hiwatt DR504 head but Dr.Z won me over. Actually, bamabluesboy, you barely outbid me on that other KT-45, got me pretty upset until I found this one. I actually paid a bit less than you because shipping was much cheaper on the one I got. I guess we both came out winners (or losers depending on how you look at it). I ordered an Avatar V30/G12H 70th Anniversary mix to go with the head, I'm hoping it sounds good. I really want that Gilmour clean mixed with some Townshend dirt and I think this will deliver.

Congrats on the KT-45. I really like mine. I mainly use a Route 66 with a Z-Best cab. But I keep it dimed. It is very hard to get cleans out of a dimed 66. The 45 is just as crunchy but I can keep the 45's volume at 12:00 so when I roll off my guitars volume I get a much better cleaner sound than the 66. Granted, my cleans are not really that clean anyway. I was wanting to look into a Tonebone Headbone so I could switch between the two heads but use one cab.

Yeah man, that speaker combo kills, I've gotta couple Germino cabs with that combo, one oversize cab and one 2 12 slant diagonal load cab, sound all over the room!!
