Okay, here is a quick run through of the Maz Jr with the master volume at 9 o’clock, noon, 3 o’clock, and max. If you’ve noticed, I’m a little shy about posting just me playing guitar licks. I’m okay with my full band stuff, but that’s after throwing in a little production. So, I knocked this out and posted it before I thought otherwise. This is a follow-up to BentTop’s attenuator test.
Here’s the lesson learned. You need to set up your amp/guitar and find a volume, tone, and sound where you’re comfortable and confident. You’ll probably hear that I was less confident at the lower settings. One would have worked the lower settings to get the desired sound through tone controls, pedals, etc. I just used my normal settings and let ‘er rip.
These are all normalized. I jumped through my Strat’s neck and middle pickup with guitar volumes at 7, 7, 10, and 8. Duh, it made sense afterwards that there would be more of a volume difference with the master down between the softer and heavier licks. There’s less compression. This is really evident with the Ghia Bonus clips.
We expect these to sound different. They do. I’m not sure that I proved that much. It would be interesting to hear someone really work each setting to get their best sound.

The Maz Jr is going through my IsoCab with a Celestion Vintage 12. I could have adjusted my headphone volume to get more comfortable at each setting, but I just let ‘er rip. The Maz is set up with
V 2:30, T 11:30, M 1, B 8:30, M Varied, & Cut 12 (yes I use 12 for recording).
